'Nazi' Atrocities Shock in Georgia - Civilians 'Slain & Sent to Camps'

Russian troops are indiscriminately murdering civilians and interning them in concentration camps, the embattled Georgian president charged yesterday, as he begged the West not to "appease" Moscow as it did with Nazi Germany.

The startling accusations came as Russian troops blatantly violated a cease-fire by sending an armored convoy through the strategic city of Gori.

The invaders first poured into Georgia five days ago - ostensibly in defense of a pro-Moscow breakaway region, South Ossetia. "What they are doing is exactly what Stalin did to Finland, what they've done to Afghanistan, what in the Second World War Germany was doing to Poland and to other European countries," Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said.

Saakashvili, a US-educated lawyer who once practiced law in New York, described the situation in Georgia as the rape of his country.

There is nothing false in the headline. Civilians slain & sent to camps means civilians either slain or imprisoned. Where is the comprehension problem?

Concentration Camp does not equal automatically death-camp. I am pretty sure they are indeed rounding up Georgians for “resettlement” to create ethnic wholly Osset and Abkhaz regions.

Check out the 90 or so pics at this Russian link. Not for the weak stomached: many gory war casualties.

Note especially the prevalent Chechyn units. Most Russian armor is spray-painted with the unit names, including "Chechyn Vostok." The Russians are sending Chechyn muslims into Georgia, to do the dirty work.

Is it an accident that Saakashvili use the Nazi's camouflage? The same camouflage which was used for mass killings?

I think it isn't.

On 7th of August, 2008 Georgian armed forces, with orders from president Saakashvili invaded Republic of South Ossetia and started full-scale genocide of Ossetian nation, for so-called «Final Solution» of Ossetian Question, which shall be considered as action, equal to Hitler’s Nazi crimes.

After capturing Ossetian capital – Tskhinvali, Saakashvili’s troops murdered es. 2000 non-combatants, citizens of Tskhinvali.

What they are doing is exactly what Stalin did to Finland,

During the four-month long Finnish Talvisota [Winter War, which the Soviets called the Belya Smyert, white death] the Soviet sent in a million men initially, with another half-million added in after initial losses. The Finns had fewer than 250,000 men with which to resist them, mostly ill-equipped and hastily-trained Civil Guardsment.

Four months later, at least a quarter-million of the invaders were either KIA or seriously enough wounded that they were no longer militarily useful: with missing limbs, badly burned, or, often, lungshot. Most of the Soviet casualties froze to death or bled out awaiting medical treatment that never came, having initially worn summer uniforms to what they had been told would be a short fight followed by occupation duty. Instead they got -30º temperatures of the coldest winter in 40 years, and the 20-hour long cold nights of the Arctic circle. Kruschev once stated that the Red Army hads taken a million casualties in Finland, and there's a fair chance that it was the Finnish success in repelling the Soviet visitors that convinced Hitler that if the Finns could do so well, the German Army could roll over the Red Army even easier...and so Hitler invaded Russia. But the Finns had taught the Soviets how to fight using the weather as a weapon, and the German effort failed. In 1959, the Soviets had put down uprisings of independence in East Germany and Hungary in '56, and again looked at Finland. Finland had no great army, and no massive budget, but they took their surplus and obsolete military weapons from their arsenals, including much of the foreign aid sent them during their Winter War and the equipment captured from the Soviets, and peddled it off to the American arms company Interarms, then called Interarmco. In nreturm the Finns got 250,000 WWII British 9mm Sten Guns, a quarter-million automatic weapons, enough for every Finnish soldier, reservist and civilian volunteer.

The Soviet Union's leadership decided that another visit to Finland would be just a little too expensive. And possibly, another MAJOR embarassment.

Here's a story in the UK Telegraph by Adrian Bloomfield (doesn't sound Russian or Georgian), that sort of references that .su propaganda. It's getting sort of difficult to think of these people as fellow humans:

Georgia sent Alexander Lomaia, the secretary of the country's National Security Mission, to negotiate with the Russian troops holding Gori...

Mr Lomaia then met a Russian colonel, who, in an apparent drunken rage, railed incoherently at western correspondents.

Mr Lomaia tried to reason with him. "There's no need to shout at the correspondents," he said quietly. "Why don't we go and sit in the car...."

Meanwhile, South Ossetian irregulars continuing to loot and pillage in Gori and nearby Georgian villages, often with the encouragement of Russian troops.

"Take whatever you want," a Russian officer shouted at the Ossetian militiamen in one village.

Fears of Balkans-style reprisals by South Ossetian fighters have grown since they entered Georgian territory after the ceasefire was agreed.

Human Rights Watch accused Russia of inflaming the mood of the irregulars by exaggerating the number of civilian deaths in the secessionist province of South Ossetia since Georgia attempted to win back the region last Friday."
