Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine who is under consideration as a possible running mate for Barack Obama gave the Senator credit for the Russian ceasefire in Georgia.

"The Senator's goal was to be tough and smart," Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, "and so when the action (in Georgia) happened on Thursday, he immediately called for a ceasefire, condemned the unwarranted use of force by Russia. It was a bad crisis for the world. It required tough words, but also a smart approach to call on the international community to step in -- and I'm very, very happy that the senator's request for a ceasefire has been complied with by President Medvedev.”

Only one problem - so far, at least 24 hours after that claim was made, there is no cease fire.

No, it’s not Scrappleface. You know that podium Obama had, with the fake seal attached to it? Kaine was the one inside that podium. On his knees.

That’s fine. I guess by extension we can also blame Obama for the fact that the cease fire has lasted all of about half a day.
On top of that, considering that the Russians haven’t lived up to their end of the bargain and are the ones who have violated the cease fire (thereby validating McCain’s harsh criticism of Moscow), I think Obama’s team would be better off here if they just STFU.
I requested a cease-fire yesterday.
Why am I not receiving the credit I so richly deserve?

Any tough words from Baraq came a full day AFTER he had said both sides were at fault, and that the Security Council (where Russia has a permanent veto) should take this matter up immediately. What a useless wanker!
