What the Olympic Opening Revealed..
Vanity | 8/10/08 | Wil H

Most people must have seen at least some of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies on TV by now, if only as news segments.

You can't have helped but notice the beautiful new stadium with three tiers of elevated seating, packed to the gills with 91,000 people.

We know there were 91,000 because that's how many seats there are and they were pretty much all filled

It was impressive; truly a sea of humanity, and a vast assembly. But even with a carefully designed, purpose built, stadium most of the viewing public are at least 300 - 450 feet away from seeing what is happening in the center of the arena.

Well consider this.

The Obama campaign and their complicit media lackeys would have believe that over TWICE that many people than you saw in the stadium all turned up to a poorly appointed venue in the middle of Berlin were they had to all stand at ground level on a street that is just 120 feet wide to hear the great Messiah speak. Yes, except for an area right in front of the podium that could hold about 12,000, the people all stood on three 120 foot wide strips that led directly away from the speaker's location.

So now we all know what a crowd of 91,000 looks like, does anyone seriously believe there were 200,000 on the streets of Berlin?

Of course, it doesn't pass the smell test

My understanding is that initial reports reported 20,000 to 50,000 attendees (for the free concert and free beer - before and after Obambi) and that somewhere along the way the 200,000 figure got picked up (from where) and every MSM reporter just ran with the higher number.

They went with the highest number because they want to convince us that Obama is loved the world over.

And they wanted to make comparisons to Kennedy’s “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech, and Reagan’s “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall” speech. They want to impress on us that Obama is a great statesman, no matter that he hasn’t been elected president yet.

And yet all they really did was impress on us folks (who are paying attention) that they are in the toilet bowl for their rock star.

His Berlin speech was NOT recived well. They expected something inspiring, and they got silly cliches.

As some wag said.... “Obama is a Rock Star in Berlin...but then, so is David Hasselhoff”..

Cliches is right. What Obama says with a smile Jimmy Carter used to preach with a moralistic frown - tax the evil rich, lower your expectations, make nice with your enemies, etc. The left has not learned the slightest thing after all that has happened in the last 30 or 40 years.

and every MSM reporter just ran with the higher number.

They used the same tactic in Portland,OR - free concert then inflate the numbers to the press.

I used Google Earth's "ruler" tool to measure the area of the crowd at Portland, it couldn't hold more than about 25,000 people but they kept parroting "70-80,000"

Remember, we’re talking about the mainstream press - where facts only get in the way of a good story!

I remember that controversy over the number of people who have attended the Promisekeepers gathering (’Stand in the Gap’) in Washington, D.C. on Oct 1997. (I was there). The National Park Service estimated the crowd to be over a million, but the MSM put the figure at only 400,000. Yet, the same MSM put that Million Men March at a million, but NPS, who got so much grief over it, placed it at only half a million. Farrakhan and his group just heaped insults upon insults on the NPS.

What sort of opening act will they have in Denver for Obama’s acceptance speech to fill up that stadium, and how many of those people will stick around for the headliner?

"What sort of opening act will they have in Denver for Obama’s acceptance speech to fill up that stadium, and how many of those people will stick around for the headliner?"

Barack Obama to continue to court celebrity vote

A list obtained by The Sunday Telegraph shows an unprecedented number of Hollywood personalities and rock stars being lined to play a role in the Denver convention, where Mr Obama will formally receive the party's nomination at the end of the month.

...

Hollywood royalty, including Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee, Warren Beatty, Susan Sarandon, Forrest Whitaker and Scarlett Johansson, will also be in Denver, as well as singers Kanye West and Wyclef Jean. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones may also put in an appearance.

This reminds me of 2004. Everyone in Hollywood was throwing their weight for Kerry and it only ended up angering Americans and is what made Bush President the second time around. Predictably of course this might end up hading McCain the Presidency.

Just look at the first phrase "Hollywood royalty."

Yeah, this is sure going to help him overcome the snob factor!
