Yesterday, it was reported in America that Newman, 83, had only weeks to live and had returned home to his wife, Joanne Woodward...

All I care about was he was an American. I will pretend he was a conservative.
I agree! Hombre was the one.
Oh, I know you didn’t—my apologies if the combination of my post made it sound as if you had.
It will be sad to lose him. He’s one of the few old actors left who’s life we didn’t know every intimate detail about.
If I was married to Joanne Woodward, I'd be too busy for anyone to know about our life together.
Loved that movie.
They have a kid for the salad business, but who’s taking his part of Newman/Haas racing?
Do you think she’s attractive? I never did get that union, physically speaking.
I always found her mannish. Certainly not ugly, but just not very pretty.
But they certainly seem to be soul partners, made for one another.
Twenty-five years ago I couldn't walk down the street without being recognized. Now I can put a cap on, walk anywhere and no one pays me any attention. They don't ask me about my movies and they don't ask me about my salad dressing because they don't know who I am. Am I happy about this? You bet."
Newman wasn't conceited or stuck on himself. I love that.

Ironically, there was a great sale on his spaghetti sauce at Wal-Mart today. $1.74

Back in the ‘70s my cousin owned a diner (either in La Verne or San Dimas - southern Cal) and several hollywood celebrities would stop in there for lunch. Paul Newman was one of them. She said the guy that played the Red Rider in westerns came in there also.
Do you know if Paul Newman played in a movie "WUSA", a political allegory, with Tony Perkins? I cannot find this movie anywhere "neflix" etc.
RIP Paul N., a class act.
We all gotta go. He’s a great actor, was a WW II vet, and while I have not agreed with his politics, our world has been a better place for him having been in it.
“our world has been a better place for him having been in it.” Amen to that!
A great man who knew how to keep his pecker in his pants. Not too many of those around anymore. (men, not peckers or pants) Godspeed.
Thanks, LS. My husband died of cancer, and dying at home, in peace, was his choice, too. Much the best way, if possible.
Newman and Woodward had the good sense to avoid living in Hollywood.
