You can get yourself in real trouble in these parts, buster. They don’t cotton to your kind around here. You’d best be a-moseyin’ on if’n you know what’s good for ya.

He sounds alright to me. The War on Some Drugs has been an abysmal failure and is simply waged to maintain jobs for the JBT and to keep the government heel on the throats of the people.

Yep. Let us look to Prohibition for an answer.

I say legalize all drugs. Do it now. Dem turnout would drop dramatically due to 1) overdoses and 2) getting too stoned out of their gourds to find polling places.

I like the idea.

And what happens to the health care system when millions of legal drug addicts need rehab?

Two good corollaries and one bad one.

1) The government could tax marijuana at the same rate it does cigarettes.

2) In thirty years we would get to hear liberals railing against the evils of "big pot".

Bad:

Too many people, with legalization, would pass through the "gateway drugs" and into the harder stuff -- even more than now.(*)

The late lamented WFB was for legalization IIRC.

(*) Price is governed by supply and demand. So if the price at the store got too high, people wouldn't have to steal to support their pot habit, they'd just grow at home. The question here is how much acreage would be diverted from foodstuffs to narcotics precursor crops, and how complex the laws would be to allow the near-monopoly of big growers. And the coked-up Manhattanites and L.A. crowd would have even fewer checks on their excesses, no threat of arrest. Speaking of that, would you have another type of M.A.D.D. -- Mothers against Druggie Drivers?

Was your old screen name tang0r or something like that?

Either way, I don't follow blog pimp links, but I agree that we should end the failed war on some drugs.
