A U.S. Border Patrol agent was held at gunpoint Sunday night by members of the Mexican military who had crossed the border into Arizona, but the soldiers returned to Mexico without incident when backup agents responded to assist.
Agents assigned to the Border Patrol station at Ajo, Ariz., said the Mexican soldiers crossed the international border in an isolated area about 100 miles southwest of Tucson and pointed rifles at the agent, who was not identified.

Just imagine the coverage on CNN if this situation was reversed. We’d never hear the end of how militaristic the US has become under President Jorge, etc. etc. etc.
As to this situation, CNN doesn’t give a fig if soldiers from a foreign nation invade US soil and hold a law enforcement officer of the US government hostage. Who cares? Only frothing-at-the-mouth conservatives care about things like border security anyway.
The truth of the matter is that the government of Mexico is losing control over their armed forces.
Wait till Bush and the Johnny Sutton types find out. No doubt they’ll be going after the border agent and determine he was at fault for something here.
If Mexican soldiers cross the border, the 101st Airborne, not the Border Patrol, should show up to “assist.”
Indeed.
Does anyone have those recent pics of Bush up in the White House celebrating Cinco De Mayo?
That would take serious leadership, a president willing to defend our borders and our sovereignty.
It was unclear what the soldiers were doing in the United States, but U.S. law enforcement authorities have long said that current and former Mexican military personnel have been hired to protect drug and migrant smugglers.
"Unfortunately, this sort of behavior by Mexican military personnel has been going on for years, "They are never held accountable, and the United States government will undoubtedly brush this off as another case of 'Oh well, they didn't know they were in the United States.
Has President Bush wrote an official letter of thanks to Mexico, for not harming our law enforcement personnel?
Good Lord...
Agreed. Hate to say it, but Mexico may be a bigger danger to our security and prosperity than Iraq ever was.
Vlad “the Impaler” Dragula new how to deal with these types of invasions.
As I recall, Pershing would have stood in the middle of a Mexican villa with a 6 shooter killing o’ Pancho’s gang after they invaded a fort in New Mexico. He would have probably been saying some unPolitically Correct things at the time.
Scratch that: It wasn’t Pershing killing Mexicans in the villa. It was Patton. Boy my history is starting to fade.
And it wasn’t just ANY 6 shooter: It was a Colt Peacemaker.
Bad border patrol agents! How dare they impede these fine Mexican soldiers! Jail them! /sarcasm
didnt you get the memo...???
vigilantism is a 'no-no'...
Yes.
And if border agents dare to do their job and protect the U.S. and their own lives the message sent by the way the Gov handled R&C is “You will do time for doing what is right.”
Ramos and Compean should be released TODAY!!!
“If the government has lost control of it’s army to the Cartels,...”
In that case he would indeed represent an armed force acting on behalf of a hostile agent, subject to be shot on sight.
Whatever his reason, it is tragic for this country. He does not show much concern for the USA.
Yeah. We know Pres. Bush would never have the guts to go to war - oh wait.
