The United States Senate race in Texas continues to get tighter this month. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Lone Star State finds Republican Incumbent John Cornyn leading Democratic State Legislator Rick Noriega 47% to 37%. When leaners are included, Cornyn leads 50% to 39%.
The incumbent senator is viewed favorably by 55% of voters and unfavorably by 31%. Noriegas numbers are 45% favorable and 33% unfavorable.

If Noriega is able to raise sufficient funds, this race could be a problem. That being said, raising sufficient funds for a campaign in Texas is no small task.
I don’t get it... “only” a ten point lead? I thought a ten point lead was pretty huge. I don’t see how he loses 10 points by November unless he gets in a scandal or something.
Well, we can be sure about who's got the "anchor baby" vote.
Unless people living in Mexico start voting, Cornyn will easily win this race.
A couple of months ago some people actually thought the Senate seat might be in play: Cornyn's lead was in the single digits. He's since raised a lot of money and had lead as high as 15 points recently. Although it's worrisome that the lead is "down" to 10, he's doing much better than many thought possible two months ago.
Not sure who is being polled.
I live in central Texas, and I am relatively certain that if I asked 10 people here, at least 7 of them would have never heard of Noriega. Seriously.
There is no way Cornyn will be truly challenged.
Why would anyone want to vote for pineapple face?
Cornyn will win by at least 10 points, which is a landslide in most political elections.
If Obama can muster up a big Hispanic turn out, ...?
I'm not as happy with KBH and her 'confusing' border fence stance. Her and pretty-boy Rick are slow-rolling construction.
I'm in US District 22, Tom Delay's old set, now held by Rat Nick Lampson.
Help support Pete Olson for Congress
“Noriega”
Is he out of federal prison already?
lol!
That name has got to be worth at least a 5 point advantage to Cornyn right there!
He'll draw some knee-jerk support - right up to the point where he opens his mouth. The amount of hate-filled bile this man spews forth makes Cindy Sheehan or Sheila Jackson-Lee look like Mother Teresa.
With the person I know that heads Victory, no way is the Texas Senate going to a Dem that is one nasty person. Cornyn will return to the Senate!
You got that right.
Speaking of... I'm looking forward to the next TX legislative session... voter ID will come up again... sparks will fly and I bet it will get done (that is if the bleeding heart run-away dems don't flee to NM or OK... AGAIN).
Poll numbers may bounce around but Cronyn won’t have any trouble defeating the democrat Noriega come Nov. A 10% spread for Cronyn on election day sounds about right.
Yeah this makes sense. John’s lead slips along with barack mcgovern’s lead. Makes sense? No.
In 2002, Rick Perry beat Tony Sanchez for Texas Governor by about 20 points (59% to 40%). That election was supposed to be close, with Sanchez having an Hispanic last name, South Texas political connections, a lovefest of MSM support, and extremely deep pockets (estimated wealth of approximately $600 million).
I don't expect Cornyn to win by that much of a landslide, but anything under 10% will be surprising.
