Now hear this:
According to the The Associated Press, the gay city's Mayor Gavin Newsom has proposed inspecting its residents' garbage. Anyone not properly sorting their garbage will be fined. Do it again and you'll face delousing or perhaps beheading.
That is all.

I left the crazy filth of San Francisco in 2002. I remember there was a subversive joke about Berkeley that circulated in SF a number of years ago. The joke was that Berkeley awarded a cash prize to any resident who did not have any recyclables in his/her garbage.

... people will take their garbage to the local apartment dumpster In my part of San Diego County, the location of open, unmonitored commercial trash bins, is a closely guarded secret, shared only with the closest of friends, especially during garage cleaning season.

Nahhhh, I guarantee they don't want a civil war. They have no guns. :-)Yeah. Right. Like they can foresee the consequences.
Remember these are the same ones who want to impeach Bush, with never a thought to the fact that that would give us President Cheney...

we used to have 3 different recycle bins (for paper, plastic and glass). We provided our own regular trash cans.
... they changed trash containers on us. Now, we are to throw ALL recyclables, mixed together, into a giant recycle bin. Same here. I could haul the bins in the car along with the trash down to the collection point by the paved road. Then we got these big wheeled bins for the recyclables instead -- way too big to fit in the car and it's a long(ish) walk to the collection point, so I just quit recycling. (Not mandatory here, yet.)

Why stop there? Why not come into my home and fine me if I use cloth napkins instead of paper ones, or make sure I am using eco-friendly detergent, etc. I see someone got a sneak peak at next week's Board of Stupidvisors Agenda.

They already do this in my city in Texas. I caught them going through my recycles bin not too long ago..LOL
Of course, it took TWO CITY EMPLOYEES to do it (no joke)..one to hold the pad and the other to rifle through my garbage!!

I read somewhere recently that the state may consider mandating that all new homes and offices being built must be equipped with thermostats that can be controlled from a remote location.
