I have a great deal of admiration and respect for President Bush really I do. But it seems to me he and the Republicans missed the opportunity to turn this thing on it’s head, and force the democrats to return for a vote. They missed a truly big moment. Scores of people were ready to go to D.C. to support them (and feed them). Too bad.

I STRONGLY AGREE WITH YOU.
Could easily have been just another theater moment to distract the masses, the slaves.

It was just so spontaneous! I think FReepers were on top
of things more than anyone in DC!
I sure admire the ones that stood their ground today, though!

(Obama=Change: HIGHER taxes, MORE entitlements, LESS oil for America!!)

Actually the Republicans can go home and use this very effectively. They can point out that they WANTED to stay and vote on REAL solutions, but were prevented by the arrogant Democrats who only want to force Americans to follow their 'green' solutions, and keeping oil and gas prices high is part of their strategy. They're certainly NOT for the 'little people' who are hurt disproportionately by them.
The President doesn't need to force the House back in session. He's giving the Democrats this rope to hang themselves. If your opponent is harming himself, stay out of his way!
