I just called and said "There's a Republican revolt going on int the House Chamber and I wasn't seeing much coverage of it." I got a run around on it. Was told several times "There are no cameras on now. Cameras are not allowed." I objected, politely, that the story could still be covered.

He seemed mildly irritated that I would question that and asked if I wanted to talk to (name garbled) and I said yes. Got a phone tree that led to leaving a recorded message. I did...

"There's a Republican revolt going on in the House Chamber. I understand that the cameras are turned off. You can still cover the story. Thank you."

“Democrats to be crude-ly tarred and feathered at the polls!”

If only it were legal to actually tar and feather again...

A couple of observations after hanging with this thread through the afternoon.

Madam Poloosi will deny a vote on drilling until after the elections in Nov. Why? Because the dims cannot allow a victory for the GOP on the oil issue. It would cost them the election. She has stepped in it however, because denying the vote could also cost them the election. The dims are counting on winning and if they do the drilling will suddenly start and the price of oil will drop dramatically. They will crow, "See what we did?"

Why doesn't Bush step into this fight? Because I believe that he is purposely keeping a low profile until after the election since he is a lightening rod for the dims. Anything that he does, other than lifting the executive ban on drilling, will give the dims an opening to inject him into the campaign for the WH. Right or wrong, I believe he is trying to do what is best for the party. It's going to be up to the GOP Congress members to fight this issue, and they will need our help.

Good for the Republicans! At last! Some backbone! I hope this is the start of something good!

Oh, and I sent e-mails to the White House and to Fraulein Pelosi!

Thanks for the ping. I’ve been spending my evening reading this thread and receiving a dramatic renewal of purpose. This is what we are supposed to be about - fighting liberal tyranny.

Nice of you to say. Most of it was from listening to talk radio so much this week. They rolled the past few days. I felt guilty spending so much time listening to them. FRegards...

Already done!

Also called several Congressmen/women today supporting their STAND against Pelosi’s arrogant disregard for what is killing our economy and hurting the poorest among us the worst! (but is also hurting ALL of us, except the very rich...namely MOST of the Demonrats in the US House/Senate).

Way to go, Republicans in the US House!

Way to go FR! who was there in the thick of this “Boston Tea Party” today.

The communists will shrug this off as a “political stunt”.

But that’s becuase they have NO CONNECTION WITH OR CARE FOR EVERYDAY REGULAR AMERICANS and we know it!

Furthermore, every DAY the Dems DELAY us from getting our OWN energy resources flowing to meet OUR needs .... is a strike against the overall economic wellbeing of this nation and all its inhabitants! OIL is THAT important!

Sorry, envirowackos...that is just the way it is.

We have had it up to here with you and we are not gonna take it anymore! Get out of our way and let sanity rule!

I thought CSpan was jointly owned by all cable companies, in order to keep Americans apprised of what's going on when Congress is in session. They consider it their Public Service Programming. But the majority decides when the House is in session, or not. When Nancy and the Democrat adjourned, the cameras were shut off.

What confuses me is that I remember when Republicans would present speeches to a House that was almost empty, but the cameras would record them. Was that when the Republicans were in the majority, or was it during a regular session of Congress that hadn't been adjourned?

Madam Poloosi will deny a vote on drilling until after the elections in Nov.

She'd like to, and she may succeed, but as Newt said in his interview with Hannity this afternoon, the adjournment vote was 213-212. That is an indication that cracks are appearing in Dem solidarity on the drilling issue - not to mention Madam's botox. Pelosi leaves town barely in control of her worker bees, most of whom are now in a position of having to defend their vote to avoid taking action on oil drilling until after a 5 week recess. Every person who voted to adjourn could have made a difference in the outcome by voting for continuing through to a vote. So congress starts it's 5 week vacation without taking action while many of their constituents can no longer afford to fly or drive anywhere on their vacation.
