Alaska's Palin Faces Probe Star GOP Governor To Be Investigated For Abuse of Office By JIM CARLTON July 31, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- When Sarah Palin was elected governor as a Republican outsider in 2006, she didn't just take on an incumbent from her own party. She took on Alaska's Republican establishment.

Ms. Palin vowed to clean up a long-cozy political system that had been sullied by an FBI corruption investigation. She endeared herself to Alaskans by making good on her reform promises and showing homey touches, like driving herself to work.

Now, one of the bright new stars in the Republican Party has suddenly become tarnished. The state legislature this week voted to hire an independent investigator to see whether Ms. Palin abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.

I wasn’t a fan of Palin for VP, but I hope this investigation turns out to be the partisan witch hunt it appears to be.

When and if it does, I’d like to see Palin publish the names of the Democrats who demanded it.

The Commissioner claims that Palin pressured him to fire the BIL, which he wouldn’t do.

One slight correction. On the day this story broke, both Sarah and the commissioner said that Sarah did not pressure the commish to fire the BIL. Rather, the pressure came from Sarah's husband Todd.

Why? The VP has a whole lot less to do than a governor.

In this case, it isn’t the DNC. It’s the Alaskan RINO’s like Stevens, Young and the Murkowski’s who treat the govt. as their own personal piggy banks. I would guess it’s less about stopping Palin as VP but more about stopping her Lt. Governor from taking out Young in the primary.

Oh boy; now who will be my choice for VEEP. I was hoping it would be Sarah Palin. Even if she is cleared, she is tarnished.

O.K., Tim Pawlenty, stay by that phone, it could very well be ringing and John McCain will be on the other end of the line.

Mr. Wooten told investigators he tested a Taser stun gun on the boy at his request

This in itself demonstrates he's not fit to be a law enforcement officer.

The tax change came after the VECO scandal...the one people are going to business for. Operating budget increase was due new contracts with the unions (since prices of healthcare etc. have gone up) and also increased tax credits for explorers on the North Slope...a plus of the new tax system. It was designed to promote exploration. There was an article in the ADN about new explorers benefitting from the new system. She cut the crap out of the capital budget...wireless for 3rd graders.

Yeah I agree Palin is the only real choice for real conservatives and constitutionalists- she was a member of the “Alaska Independence Party” for all that is Holy! - And I don’t mean ‘Alaska Independent Part’, I mean ALASKA INDEPENDENCE PARTY-As in leave the USA (seceede) you can’t get anymore conservative/state’s rights oriented than that!
