Look yummy, thanks for the recipe.
Maybe donuts have outlived their popularity. A couple of years ago, all of the Krispy Kreme stores in the Phoenix area closed. Even though we only went there maybe 3-4 times a year, we were sad to see them go. I understand that one of the branches opened up in the far east Valley, but the one near us remains closed.
I really hope this tanks. I’m an American who loves a nice, big, greasy double-bacon cheeseburger. Sad to see all these take-out places heading down the “everything we make is made of tofu” route.
Thank God all the self-righteous Nanny fascists are doing their part to make America a better and safer country.
If we just learn to eat correctly, the Muslims and other baddies will leave us alone and won’t nuke us or other nasty things like that.
White sugar is the most evil substance on the planet besides red meat or meat at all.
We’re going to have “health in our time”.
Do I need a sarcasm alert here?
Actually in our area we have a non fat pastry that's shaped like a popover and has cooked apples and cinnamon in it----really good! They also do a muffin made with applesauce instead of the fat which is pretty tasty.
Last week I went to Dunkin Donuts in St. Joseph, MO. I had heard about their anti-Starbucks marketing and wanted to get in on the side of everyman. I was on a business trip around IA, MO, and NE and this was the one outlet along my route (we don't have DD here in FRisco). The store was clean, the help wes cute and very nice, the donut was ok, but the coffee was only a few cents cheaper than Starbucks and was not nearly as good. Not a win.
In my area, the DDs seems to run by really sweet (and often attractive) Filipinas. In Brooklyn, they were run by Sikhs. Whatever the ethnicity, all stores were clean, even in bad neighborhoods.
Unfortunately, non-fat doesn’t mean non-fattening.
Save your money, it is one of the biggest wastes of $3.99 plus tax out there.
Dunkin Doughnuts needs to stick with what put them on the map and forget the PC foolishness.
They look tasty but full of carbs.
I’d like someone to come up with a doughnut that has under 100 calories and under 5 grm carbos - and isn’t the size of a quarter.
:~ )
Now all you need is a side of raspberry preserves and some Devonshire Clotted Cream.
50% of your daily calories should be carbs.
All the Krispy Kremes in AZ, NM and TX closed that day. But it’s not because donuts outlived their popularity, it’s because KK over expanded and diluted the value of their brand. With stores going up like weeds and half the grocery stores and even many gas stations selling their donuts they removed any concept of specialness from their product. They took what was a legendary hard to find best enjoyed fresh product into a ubiquitous uninteresting can’t swing a dead cat without hitting one product.
There’s still plenty of market for donuts, KK just wasn’t run well.
I can’t spell the expression on my face at this news. I drive by a Dunkin Donuts almost daily and never stop but surely do hate to see that option taken away from me.
I very seldom eat fast food, an occasional salad at Wendy’s or Chik-fil-a or a sandwich at Subway. I woke up this morning thinking about Subway, so am going there for supper, turkey and cheese on honey oat with lots of veggies and a little honey mustard, baked Lays and unsweet tea.
It’s calling me NOW, but it’s too early to go.
People say that, but the history of healthy products in fast food shows it’s not the case. McDonalds has put salads on their menu many times and they always failed, and let’s not forget the mighty McLean; Burger King has gone through similar failed experiments.
The reason Subway is it is that’s the size of the market, and it helps that they actually have a sizable section of the menu that isn’t all that healthy, I call that section “the good part”.
