President Obama Continues Hectic Victory Tour
washingtonpost.com ^ | July 30, 2008 | Dana Milbank

Barack Obama has long been his party's presumptive nominee. Now he's becoming its presumptuous nominee.

Fresh from his presidential-style world tour, during which foreign leaders and American generals lined up to show him affection, Obama settled down to some presidential-style business in Washington yesterday. He ordered up a teleconference with the (current president's) Treasury secretary, granted an audience to the Pakistani prime minister and had his staff arrange for the chairman of the Federal Reserve to give him a briefing. Then, he went up to Capitol Hill to be adored by House Democrats in a presidential-style pep rally.

Along the way, he traveled in a bubble more insulating than the actual president's. Traffic was shut down for him as he zoomed about town in a long, presidential-style motorcade, while the public and most of the press were kept in the dark about his activities, which included a fundraiser at the Mayflower where donors paid $10,000 or more to have photos taken with him. His schedule for the day, announced Monday night, would have made Dick Cheney envious:

11:00 a.m.: En route TBA.

12:05 p.m.: En route TBA.

1:45 p.m.: En route TBA.

2:55 p.m.: En route TBA.

5:20 p.m.: En route TBA.

The 5:20 TBA turned out to be his adoration session with lawmakers in the Cannon Caucus Room, where even committee chairmen arrived early, as if for the State of the Union. Capitol Police cleared the halls -- just as they do for the actual president. The Secret Service hustled him in through a side door -- just as they do for the actual president. "I'm doin' good," Obama said with a wave.

No, not a dope, but an a$$hole, YES! He is all symbol and no substance. He has no idea of “best traditions”. He has told us that he stands for change...he really means change for the worse.

I fear for this man’s life.

I feel the same way. He gives me nightmares, but I wonder if he can survive to the finish line. Wouldn't it be demented if he were struck down, and the Dems had to hoist Hillary up to carry his torch. There would be oh so many repercussions. They would blame conservatives until the end of time for his fall.

“I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.”

What a dope.

What a frightening dope ... and more so, the frightening dopes and dopettes that believe his every word.

I'm not so sure, my "man in the street interview" reveals a HUGE amount of hope-a-dopes falling for this media fairy tale. The Obama virus has spread to nearly all coastal youth and ALL liberals It seems to be the culmination of the 8 year long all-out War on Bush quagmire

....it's totally frightening !

Why would the WP write this about the dem nominee?

They know Obama will lose. Has Hillary released her pledged delegates?

hahaha

So if this is a close election ala 2000, can we expect Barack to ask that the tie be settled in Europe? and to keep polling more countries until he is the winner? Or better yet, make it a global election.

Did you read the article. It’s complete satire and very negative against Obama.

I spent time reading all of the comments at the end.
Obama’s supporters are out in full force this evening and they are some of the nastiest, most arrogant folks I’ve read comments from for awhile.

Everytime someone raises an objection to Obama, they come back with the charge: Racism.

Saron is gathering her forces as we speak. Nobody messes with our Dear Leader and gets away with it. A line from a very famous movie is going through my head, when I think of her and this present situation: as of today, all family business will be settled./Just Asking - seoul62.......

While the Obama campaign's arrogance is certainly starting to take a toll, it's odd to see Milbank point it out so unequivocally. A warning not to be too quick counting their chickens? More sniping from the unhappy Hillary faction?

At the same time we have Reed and Pelosi suddenly scrabbling for political cover on their refusal to drill for oil. The DNC's latest internal polling numbers must be interesting...
