U.S. government: We know parenting better than you

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to debate two bills that could give the federal government unprecedented control over the way parents raise their children – even providing funds for state workers to come into homes and screen babies for emotional and developmental problems.

The Pre-K Act (HR 3289) and the Education Begins at Home Act (HR 2343) are two bills geared toward military and families who fall below state poverty lines. The measures are said to be a way to prevent child abuse, close the achievement gap in education between poor and minority infants versus middle-class children and evaluate babies younger than 5 for medical conditions.

'Education Begins at Home Act' – HR 2343

HR 2343 is sponsored by Rep. Danny Davis, D-Ill., and cosponsored by 55 Democrats and 11 Republicans. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that implementing the Education Begins at Home Act would cost taxpayers $190 million for state home visiting, plus "such sums as may be necessary" for in-hospital parent education.

It sounds like they want to make sure the children are indoctrinated with liberalism COMMUNISMfrom the time they leave the womb.

**ALL** liberals are communists. They are never satisfied. They are riding the communist train. All social programs passed are merely insignificant train station stops. They final destination is and always has been: Marxist Utopia-land!!

All "progressives" are merely progressing toward communism!

It is time we called these people what they **really** are: Marxists and Communists!

This is not a homeschooling issue, per se, but I thought it would be of interest to homeschoolers since we, as a group, tend to resist government interference.

Is there a military ping list? The military is specifically mentioned as being a target of this kind of invasive government action.

It only takes a little bit of socialism to suffocate and kill freedom.

Stamp out any kind of government intrusion of your lives (like get out of public schools) to begin to help to kill the beast.

I always found it interesting that the Bible in allegorical verses will liken governments to beasts. God knows what he is talking about!

SIGH and every time I have asked you have failed to answer (except with your patented avoidance joke)

Where does the majority of abuse occur?

For the rest of you the answer is that 84 percent of ALL abuse occurs in the home situation.

Now wintertime will say something to the effect of "Then we should not let parents have children at all and institutionalize them all."

Committing the logical fallacy of Reducto ad absurdium, because she does not have an answer to that.

This is truly frightening. When will we as Americans understand that the the government can’t possibly manage everything in our lives as efficiently, effectively, quickly, and cheaply as we can? I’m tired of this progressive move towards statism and government control in all walks of life. And both candidates are moving us in that direction. Sigh.

Looks like HSLDA is following one of these bills, too, and worked to have it amended: HSLDA's statement on H.R. 2343

Read “Conflict of Visions” (Sowell)

to see why the left thinks that it IS better to centralize control over all aspects of living.

It has to do with their rejection of the idea of inherently flawed (sinner) humans, and their concept of the perfectability of the human. Some are more perfect than others, and therefore deserve to (and are obligated to) make decisions for others.

So?

I'll bet a similar number of trip and fall deaths occur on staircases. Should the government take initiative to inspect all staircases or offer "Climbing a Staircase" courses?

We saw this coming a mile away. This is what happens in totalitarian states, not in America. But I guess we’re not in America anymore.

I agree with you, but what you said will fall on deaf ears, even on FR.
