For the second year in a row, a Los Angeles assemblyman is pushing a bill that would create a handgun-ammunition licensing system for firearms dealers statewide.

The bill would require dealers to purchase an annual license from the Department of Justice to sell more than 50 total rounds of handgun ammunition each month. These licenses would cost an estimated $50, according to the department.

From the article:

And the bill would make it illegal to sell or give handgun ammunition to convicted felons or gang members.

Felons and gang members will now have to buy their illegal ammo the same place they get their illegal guns. Quite the windfall this bill creates for criminals - but then it's a Democrat bill so that goes without saying.

De Leon countered, “Guns don’t kill people, ammunition does.”

Absolutely correct. Well actually the bullet kills, not the casing or the primer or the powder.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms makes no mention of ammunition so ammunition can be banned. Just like the first amendment doesn’t mention ink or radio or tv.

Unconstitutional laws should be violated with glee.

If it passes, it’s just another reason for this law-abiding taxpayer to leave the once-great Golden State.

That’s one solution.
Or buy ammo and other things in Az.
That is before they start searching cars at the border for the new “contraband”.

Between the Founding Fathers letters on militia and regular army accoutrements, especially Washington’s letters, and the Heller decision portion regarding restrictions on common classes of weapons, the Heller decision opened up this can of worms.

Every “class” of weapons and accountrements will now be regulated in a methodical fashion as to skirt right up against the limits of the Heller decision and attempt to slowly lower the number of units of each “class” so the anti-gun people can in the future return to a friendly court and have the classes of weapons declared no longer “widely available” so therefor open to prohibition to the general public.

This is the weakness of the Heller decision. It puts the weight of law an the Supreme Court behind every firearm and accoutrement restriction that doesn’t fully deny access to the law-abiding.

Expect this bill to be used as a prototype across the nation, through dozens of legislative bodies simultaneously.

Good luck! Remember that "the people" elected him in the first place, that these are the same "people" who keep electing Maxine Waters.

Expect more like him in the future.

Can we give Southern California back to the Mexicans.
I mean, I know our economy would take a hit, but our culture and politics would dramatically improve...

I dunno about that. In this country we are forced to "tolerate" nonsense that other countries (Mexico, for ex.) won't put up with.

Southern California's culture and politics would probably improve in that situation. Ours would still be in the tank.

Press Enterprise has probably shifted the article to an archive. I’ll check Google.
