Woman Awakens From Surgery to Find Panty-Line Tattoo

A New Jersey woman has sued her orthopedic surgeon after awakening from surgery to find a temporary tattoo below her panty line.

Elizabeth Mateo, of Camden County, N.J., filed her lawsuit Tuesday saying she found "a temporary tattoo of a red rose" below her panty line the morning after her surgery for a herniated disc, her attorney, Gregg A. Shivers, told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"She was extremely emotionally upset by it," Shivers told the paper.

Well you go ahead and believe whatever you like, no matter the opinions of folks who work in the industry.

This ethics person knows what he is talking about. You simply cannot do things like this.

The man talks about a back and front scenario that you simply refuse to acknowledge.

For some reason you folks think physicians have ownership of your body while you are under anesthesia. They don’t. They have temporary license to work where you have given them permission to work. That is it.

well, tell you the truth, i'm a guy and was having a little fun at your expense. i apologize.

some females in my family have varying degrees of experience with plastic surgery and all have had very pleasant experiences and will have more done in the future.

my ex-girlfriend had an augmentation, and my current one is strongly considering it. i know enough not to take one side or the other but i just want to scream, "YES, DO IT!"

My daughter had scoliosis surgery ten years ago when she was 15. Her spine had a 30 degree curve. The surgery went well, she gained an inch in height and is now straight as an arrow. As the surgeon predicted, she experienced exactly two weeks of a few back spasms and a some pain that was alleviated by relaxants and pain medication. She has had no trouble since.

Unfortunately, I'm 58 and getting conflicting info on surgery.....can't because of age and osteopenia , should because it will alleviate pain, can't because of having 2 problems (curvature and disks). *sigh*

I suspect what upset the woman at first was the location and nature of the mark, along with not knowing that it was washable. I would support my wife suing over this, if I were not in jail for murder already.

Hopefully we can prevent future self-righteous indignation if we add a few more waiver forms; couple more regulations; a law here or there; a large bureaucracy-established set of guidelines, a blue-ribbon exploratory committee, and a competitive grant-proposal for preventing “Sharpie” marks intra-operatively.

The pay day is not my first concern here, but what other recourse is there for someone to take, when they think their rights have been violated?

This woman didn't go into the hospital seeking to entice this physician into putting a tattoo on her without her permission.  She went into the hospital seeking relief from pain.  She put her trust in the physician to do only what he was supposed to do, and he betrayed that trust.

This guy gets a kick out of knowing he had his hands in women's private areas.  He likes to run into them in public settings having both know that he has had his hands in their private places. Somehow it isn't quite good enough for him to run into them knowing he has given them relief from pain, and that they live a better life for him having done good work.  Instead he needs to know where he tagged them, and he needs to know they know where he tagged them.  That is a fetish.  It is improper.

This is not the first woman he has done this to.  His own attorney admits he's been doing this for some time.  It's my take that this is not the first complaint.  It is the first complaint that has hit the courts and the papers.

Some women are very private.  They are very uncomfortable declothing in front of anyone other than their husband.  Going to visit a physician for a physical is something they tollerate, but they don't enjoy it one bit.

For this type of person, to have a guy put a tattoo under their bikini line, is imply unacceptable.  And this person is doing something about it.

Who is it that exposed the health care industry to one more law suit?  This woman?  No.  It was a physician who has been trained, inserviced, and told repeatedly for years not to do anything even close to this.
