If I were a sheriff I’d tell them that their protests at funerals fall outside the 1st Amendment because of the fighting words exemption, tell them I would arrest them for disorderly conduct and anything else I could think of if they showed up and then say “Sue me.”

No. Phelps and family were spewing their hatred long before Soros got involved with politics. And their hatred of gays is very real and all consuming, so they wouldn't have anything to do with Soros anyway since he's not anti-homosexual.
You're wrong in that. In fact your whole timeline is a bit off. The Gore connection dates from the 80's, but Phelps and crew wrote Gore off after 1988 when he refused to condemn homosexuals. The protested Hillary during the 1992 campaign and picketed Gore, Seniors funeral in 1998.
Where do these people get their money to fund all this travel and hotel bills? You have to eat when away from home! This church is comprised mostly of people from one large family, so where does the money come from? We are not talking about a congregation with hundreds of members here.

Do not make the liberal error of calling these folks fundamentalists. Biblical fundamentalism means living by the Bible and only by the Bible, without man’s wisdom mixed in to dilute or water it down. While their stance against sodomites does not reflect how Christ dealt with sinners (hence, our example to expose but not condemn), I applaud their boldness. Too bad they can’t follow the Bible for HOW to expose such things.
