New and Not Improved (NYT troubled by Obama's flip-flops)
New York Times ^ | July 4th, 2008 | NY Times editorial board

Posted on 07/04/2008 4:43:39 AM PDT by Kleebo151

Senator Barack Obama stirred his legions of supporters, and raised our hopes, promising to change the old order of things. He spoke with passion about breaking out of the partisan mold of bickering and catering to special pleaders, promised to end President Bush’s abuses of power and subverting of the Constitution and disowned the big-money power brokers who have corrupted Washington politics.

Now there seems to be a new Barack Obama on the hustings. First, he broke his promise to try to keep both major parties within public-financing limits for the general election. His team explained that, saying he had a grass-roots-based model and that while he was forgoing public money, he also was eschewing gold-plated fund-raisers. These days he’s on a high-roller hunt.

Not a chance. By November they will have rationalized just about anything. There's no way the editorial board of the NY Times is NOT going to endorse Obama.

It’s possible...but they are still “married”, lest any of us forget.

The editorial collapses at the end into a repeat of standard Obama boilerplate campaign rhetoric, as if trying to regain that moment in Spring when the Times and other assorted moonbats thought they had found their Golden One.

the NY Times is NOT going to endorse Obama

Unless, of course, they endorse their junior Senator.

Don't forget this one on Iran Slimes...

May 18, 2008: Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us. ...they spend 1/100th of what we spend on the military. I mean, if Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn't stand a chance.

May 20, 2008: Iran is a grave threat. It has an illicit nuclear program. It supports terrorism across the regions and militias in Iraq. It threatens Israel's existence. It denies the Holocaust.

Note the partisan leftist attack on President Bush in this editorial, while at the same time it laments that Barack isn’t living up to his promise to end the partisan bickering and catering to special interests.

Sheesh. Maybe if we all sent them MIRRORS with attached notes saying “here, hypocrites, look into THIS and view the rabid leftist partisan and special interest staring back at you”...

Naaahh...

The last paragraph is pretty interesting given that Obama is already walking back on his Iraq position which the article seems to ignore (or did I just not read it correctly?).

McCain needs to come out and say:

Barak Obama wants to end the war in Iraq; I want to win it.

That is the big difference and I truly hope McCain gets some energy up and starts working to win this election. I’m not his biggest fan by any measure, but I will vote for him, because an Obama presidency is just too frightening.

No, the Democrat vote is in the bag. This is to convince Republicans that Obama’s now on their side.

What did they expect? Muslims are permitted to lie to us infidels. And Democrats are natural born liars!

This country needs change it can believe in.

A willing suspension of disbelief (i.e., self-brainwashing) is necessary, if folks of any political persuasion are going to pull the lever for Obama.

When I think of obama, one of the first thoughts I have is of a snake with a particularly forked tongue. Gee, I hope that’s not a racist comment./s

Have no fear Obama will get the NY Slimes support come November. This is just a shot across the bow to get him in line.

I would prefer one change to your construct:

“He wants to retreat from this war, I want to win this war”

I would even go for “lose this war” but the masses are just so dumbed down it’s too much of a strain for them to see the cause and effect connection between BO’s “get out fast no matter what happens on the ground” and the catastrophy that would lead to.

I hope anyway that most people get what it means to plan on turning around and retreating from the battlefield, or any challenge or confrontation. It’s one slight step short of surrendering...walking away while carrying a white flag inviting your enemy to take over but please don’t shoot at your retreating backs, pretty please...

Only NOW, BO is starting to talk a different game on Iraq, as Charles Krauthammer predicted he would...

Don't sweat it, NYT. It all a big head fake to the right on Obama's part.

During the election, all of The Obamessiah's issue position are subject to being put in temporary storage under the bus, along with his leftist and terrorist friends.

Once he's safely elected, he will revert to type, which means the gool ol' USA will have her first true Marxist commander in chief.

Obama’s previous electorate was minority from the inner city...those folks don’t ask a lot of questions....main thing they want to know is: “What kinda government programs [money]you gonna give us?”....sometimes both the Obamas still sound like they’re down at the local AME Zion church haranguing the congregation....that’s why Michele says stuff like “Obama’s gonna make you have to work”....like we’ve ALL been sitting around on our asses collecting govt hand outs.
