In January and February, while Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were in the early stages of the battle for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, the number of Americans who considered themselves to be Democrats surged to record highs. The numbers have stabilized since then, leaving the Democratic Party with a significant advantage over Republicans in terms of partisan identification.
During the month of June, 41.0% of Americans considered themselves to be Democrats, 31.5% said they were Republicans and 27.5% were not affiliated with either major party.
This marks the fifth straight month that the number of Democrats has been between 41.0% and 41.7%. During that same period, the number of Republicans has also stabilized, ranging only from 31.4% to 32.1% (see history from January 2004 to present). Prior to February of this year, neither party had ever reached the 39% level of support. Rasmussen Reports tracks this information based upon telephone interviews with approximately 15,000 adults per month and has been doing so since November 2002.
In 2004, the Democrats began the year with a 2.3 percentage point edge over the GOP. That grew to 4.0 points by March before moving in the Republican direction for the rest of the year. By Election Day in 2004, the edge for Democrats was a mere 1.6 percentage points.
In 2006, the Democrats began the year with just a 1.6 percentage point advantage. That grew to 6.1 percentage points by November

What percentage of the 41% who consider themselves to be Democrats will actually show up at the polls on election day and vote? IMHO what this poll really tells us is what percent of Americans want FREE STUFF from the government and need a Mojo Daddy in Washington to make their Cargo Cult a reality. History shows, however, that turnout by this pathetic group of losers is notoriously low.

And that’s why it doesn’t matter who we vote for, might as well write in a conservative. Of course with the democrats liking McCain and him supporting most of their nonsense, he might make it. Still, he won’t need my vote as he and his supporters are so fond of reminding us.

During the primary democrats were outvoting republicans by large numbers in every state I looked at.

These numbers don’t bode well for Republicans.
People lived in denial and look how the 2006 elections turned out.
And instead of trying to get unified, some conservatives are still throwing temper tantrums, as they did in 2006, still not comprehending that all they are doing is making it even easier for the Democrats.
Just wait for President Obama with a Dem Congress, which will also turn the Judiciary into an arm of the Democrat party, by stuffing the courts, including the SCOTUS with leftist activist judges.
It’s now wonder, when Conservatives have to disavow the Republican party in order to have ideological coherence.
Unless the Republican Party returns to its fundamental core principles, it is doomed. We need a TWO party system. Now we have a system of a Democratic Very Liberal Party and a Republican Somewhat Liberal Party.
This is collectivist pressuring and posturing, making it more moral to be on the democrates’ side. The “bush is stupid” mantra was just such action.
The media keeps playing with perceptions of moral standards. It keeps trying to isolate the higher standards. It keeps trying to make the higher standards as evil to be destroyed.
