LONDON (Reuters) - Just a few more portions of broccoli each week may protect men from prostate cancer, British researchers reported on Wednesday. ADVERTISEMENT

The researchers believe a chemical in the food sparks hundreds of genetic changes, activating some genes that fight cancer and switching off others that fuel tumors, said Richard Mithen, a biologist at Britain's Institute of Food Research.

I hate broccolli. My doc told me not to eat cauliflower, brussel sprouts or broccolli after I had my gall bladder out.

The cruciferous veggies continue to surprise us...

I’ve read accounts of people who started eating alot of cabbage to help with digestive ailments and had results that were little shy of miraculous.

Sounds like you let a quack operate on you.

Broccoli appears to be a previously unappreciated wonder drug!

I love broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I was always the kid who ate everyone else’s greens at lunch in elementary school.

I think that you need to find a real doctor!

I’m not sure why he’d say that, as the gall bladder puts out bile, which is used to break down fats and has nothing to do with carbohydrates.

Odd.

I started drinking 1 or 2 glasses of the anti-oxidant Lipton Green Tea (iced) a day, and after about 3 months, I noticed that two new moles (which I never bothered to have checked out) had completely vanished. One of them was growing out of the corner of my eye, and as I kept drinking the tea, I noticed it started getting harder and less elastic feeling, and one day I got out of the shower and looked in the mirror, and it was just gone as if it had never been there. I like raw broccoli with dip too, but not every day. I make the green tea a daily habit now though.

I had my gallbladder removed two years ago. No medical professional ever warned me off broccoli, and if anyone had, I would have ignored the advice.

I eat broccoli often. It is very good for you, gallbladder or not.

:-)

Eat your broccoli with a nice tomato sauce. Not only is it a yummy combination, but your prostate will thank you :)
