FBI Chief Unhappy With Supreme Court Ruling

The director of the FBI is not happy with the Supreme Court's recent handgun ruling.

Robert Mueller says he tends to believe that "weapons harm people, and more often than not they harm the people carrying them."

Mueller said the high court's decision, which threw out a handgun ban in Washington, D.C., "does throw a lot of things up in the air."

Mueller said communities will now have to decide their own licensing programs.

Mueller was speaking at a convention of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators in Hartford, Connecticut.

He says with his grandchildren going to college, he hopes "those campuses will be weapons-free."

Never mind. I just answered my own question. I went to the Solicitor General's website and read the amicus brief filed on behalf of the Bush Administration. It at least argues that the Second Amendment guarantees and individual's right to bear arms; however, there are other aspects of this brief with which I disagree.

In any event, it is time for Mueller to go. How is it possible for the Solicitor General to advocate one position on behalf of the executive branch and Mueller to advocate a different position as a representative of the executive branch. Sometimes the actions by the Bush Administration makes the Keystone Cops look like a SWAT team.

When I was 18 I pledged to protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemy’s, foreign and domestic. I would have thought Mr Mueller would have done the same when he joined the Marines, and again when he became the head of the FBI. Perhaps he has become a domestic enemy and should resign from his post if he feels he can no longer protect the constitution.

Mueller is an embarrassment. Does anyone know whether the Bush Administration filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court with this issue and whether such brief argued there is an individual right to bears arms granted by the Second Amendment or whether the right to bear arms was only a collective right of a militia?

Note that members of Congress [59 in the Senate and 251 in the House] and the VP filed an amicus brief in support of Heller. How Muller can make such a statement shows how much of a political tin ear he has, besides the fact that the ruling upheld a Constitutional right.

I don’t see altitude as having a significant effect of the ingitability of vapors in the tank, and it should be noted that they got ignition at a fraction of the current the NTSB said was likely to have entered the tank.
