Last week marked the 20th anniversary of the mass hysteria phenomenon known as global warming. Much of the science has since been discredited. Now it's time for political scientists, theologians and psychiatrists to weigh in.
What, discredited? Thousands of scientists insist otherwise, none more noisily than NASA's Jim Hansen, who first banged the gong with his June 23, 1988, congressional testimony (delivered with all the modesty of "99% confidence").
AP The New True Believers But mother nature has opinions of her own. NASA now begrudgingly confirms that the hottest year on record in the continental 48 was not 1998, as previously believed, but 1934, and that six of the 10 hottest years since 1880 antedate 1954. Data from 3,000 scientific robots in the world's oceans show there has been slight cooling in the past five years, never mind that "80% to 90% of global warming involves heating up ocean waters," according to a report by NPR's Richard Harris.

Maybe there's something to it, but with so much panic-stricken hyperbole, agenda-driven propaganda, and downright foolishness obscuring the issue--it's hard to know whether the sky's really falling or somebody merely got hit on the head with an acorn.
One thing's for sure: There are lots of Foxy Loxies out there eager to profit from the hysteria--and fanning its flames!
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some Foxy Loxy hadn't started the whole thing by chunking the acorn onto Chicken Little's head to begin with.
Ah! The ability of statisticians to mislead with graphs.
The arbitrary use of” parts per million” on the Y axis t makes a virtual flatline slope appear very steep.
What the chart tells me is that over the past 140 years Co2 has risen 80 parts per MILLION (a factor of 0.00008)or about, on average, one part per 1.75 MILLION each year( factor of 0.0000057)
Yes it has. They have also decided to push the homosexual agenda. Too bad. It used to be a refuge from politics.
("Property Virgins" is still ok too although I'm not fond of the title. LOL.)
The non-interacting unpolarized molecules probably buffer the whole effect
Not a scientist but that's my guess
Check my post further up about how we had very hot eras during low CO2
That's an easy one to spot
But I bet lots of Obama voters swallow that deceptive graph
Women are also fooled more than men by such a graph and they vote
LOL, you two.
I so want Candice to redo my entire house. And the gal who does PVs is a cutie. (I also don’t like the title, being the prude that I am :)
WSJ Editorial Board: Head Still Buried in the Sand
Global warming delusions of the Wall Street Journal
Fiddling while the planet burns
"Now I have nothing against the Wall Street Journal. It is an excellent paper, whose science column and news reporting have accurately and carefully carried the story of global climate change. Even the corporate advertisements that surround the editorial page tell of BP's commitments to renewable energy and General Electric's commitments to environmentally sound technologies. The editorial page sits in its own redoubt, separated from the reporters -- and from the truth. ... Reporters for the Wall Street Journal routinely distance themselves from the editorial page. Many of the paper's own reporters laugh or cringe at the anti-scientific posture of the editorials, and advise the rest of us simply not to read them. Nevertheless, the consequences of those editorials are significant. The Wall Street Journal is the most widely read business paper in the world. Its influence is extensive. Yet it gets a free pass on editorial irresponsibility."
Hewlett Packard is one of the US firms pushing hard for NATIONAL legislation to force Cap & Trade fees, establishing fees that discourage non-green activities, and forcing vendors to collect ‘fees’ based on the environmental impact of your monitor or TV screen size (ala CA which now assesses a fee based on screen size), etc. They are against state control because it isn’t ‘strict’ enough. They have aligned themselves with the most extreme efforts of the World Wildlife Foundation to magnify the scare messages around human-caused global warming. They support and are active in trying to import the European restrictions and controls on vendors as well as consumers for using non-green products.
I have never seen one of her designs that I did not think was fabulous, not once.
The Earth has never experienced Run Away Global Warming( RAGW), at least not to the extent they that the warming all by itself caused a mass extinction. However the Earth has experienced Run Away Global Cooling (see Snowball Earth, 400ish million years ago). We have lots more to worry about with cooling then warming. IMHO this winter is going to indecate to us if we are entering a serious cooling period. Sure seems to me like the seasons are cooling down.
Very bad assuption, H2O has a far greater effect. In fact GW theory relies on a small increase in C02 causing a large increase in H20 vapor. It is the H2O increase that drive temperatures up, not the CO2 according to the GW theorists.
PS no increase in H2O vaper has been documented even in high CO2 zones.
The religious parallels go very deep. Examples include the ‘final goal’ of environmentalism being ‘The State of Nature’, synonymous with socialist theory, and identical to ‘The New Jerusalem’ in its intermediate form and ‘The Garden of Eden’ in its final form.
The Asceticism of environmentalism goes beyond the self-denial, moral inhibition and sexual repression well known to medieval religion, it even extends into ‘The Mortification of the Flesh’, which in times past meant flogging onesself, but today probably means vegetarianism and driving a Prius covered in smarmy bumper stickers.
And, of course, environmentalists are very focused on ‘End Times’ and the final battle between ‘Good and Evil’ (which gets funny because they are moral relativists as a rule, so define good as ideological purity, and evil as everything else.)
And the hypocrisy is too thick to cut with a knife, like the wealthy priest who tells the poor how they are more righteous than the rich, so should give their wealth to his church. How righteous to gorge yourself as a “sin eater” during the time of famine.
In this case, the wealthy countries should feel guilty about the poor countries, yet give their wealth to the environmentalists.
Unfortunately, the bottom line of trying to use science as voodoo, instead of an invisible monster deity who punishes the infidels and rewards the repetitious faithful, lacks something. Probably the concept of hell.
Absolutely CO2 is just a “trace element” of the atmosphere. I made a gross error by saying CO2 in the 5,6,7% range. We are no where near that but in past eras we had that much. Peaked at 7000ppm.... That must be 7%. Hope I’m not wrong
