A Win by McCain Could Push a Split Court to Right
(Excerpt) Read more at washingtonpost.com ...
I agree, and if Obama (heaven forbid) gets in he may just be replacing Stevens (age) and Ginsburg (health). Tie the replacements up in the Senate is a good plan. I like it.
I hold little hope for improvement.
McCain can only nominate appointees. The RATs in the Senate
will be flexing their newfound socialist-majority muscle, and will flatten any conservative judge nomination. Then, McQueeg will “reach across the aisle” and give them what they want —another uberliberal, to show what a wonderful non-partisan consensus-builder he is.
We’re screwed.
Exactly! If Stevens and Bad Ginsburg leave SCOTUS, perhaps all McCain should do is to nominate conservative replacements, then sit back and let the dhimms block them time after time if need be. At that point, even if Kennedy continues to vote with the libs, the Court would indefinitely have a working majority of conservatives, by a vote of four to three!<<<
That IS the plan.
And they say we conservatives never have a plan.
Even if that were to happen, I would still stick to "The Plan"
Let the dhimmis explain/be responsible for why the tired ole bat can't retire.
“A Win by McCain Could Push a Split Court to Right”
No, it could not. I am really getting tired of this lie. TO assume that “A Win by McCain Could Push a Split Court to Right” assumes two things, first that McCain will keep his word on judges and second that the DEMOCRAT Senate will allow strict constructionist judges to eve come up for a vote.
You know what happens when you assume.
If you're thinking of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I'm pretty sure one of them was my senator at the time, Bob Smith. I was proud of him. At that moment.
“He could put his Idiot Wife Michelle on the Supreme Court and/or William Ayres and/or Eric Holder, or (BARF TSUNAMI WARNING!) Dennis KOOKINICH or Lanny Davis, even Rev Jeremiah Wright!!!!!”
And if they are only replacing the liberals that are already there....?
and a win by Obama will for sure make it 5-4 to the Left since Ginsburg and Stevens will then retire as they have been wont to do waiting for the chance to ensure their replacement is a PC collectivist too.
“Kills the third party argument as well.”
Third party hell, we need a second one!
Yep--Rudman is always hangin' around McCain. In the 2000 election, McCain announced that Rudman would be his Attorney General if he were to be elected. Thankfully, I think he would be considered too old now.
and Kennedy was presented as too John Law....Rhenquist-like
And Nixon gave us Harry Blackmun.
The assertion that McCain will appoint conservative judges becomes all the more dubious when looking at what more conservative Presidents have done (unwittingly and otherwise.)
I wish it were so, but despite their worst fears, it's MacQueeg we're talking about. He won't nominate anyone without having him vetted by Teddy Kennedy first. Seriously.
Only if Kennedy or, God forbid, Scalia retire.
You are kidding! I pray!either that or a cold welcome oh one from the Daily KOS! :-P Obie has the ability to make Ginsberg look like a Right Wing Conservative and he will! Dont be so bodacious as to think he may only replace one of the antique Liberals, thats beyond stupid. GOD Forbid! but a serious illness, accident or death could befall any one of the four current Conservatives! and then We are so to speak “Up the creek with no paddles or boat!”
Thank you! with HUSSEIN in the running for PO**S, being labeled deranged is taken as a badge of HONOR!:-) But first and foremost, I am a Realist! I will put NOTHING past Obie. If he chose Michelle HUSSEIN for a Supreme Court Justice, I firmly believe that would be one of his more conservative and lucid choices, as BAD and Terrible as she is! Another choice I wouldnt put past him is Keith Ellison, Maxine Waters, and/or Quaddafi himself! OH WELL! Who Cares anyway!
I’m glad your not serving in Our Military with a Defeatist Attitude like You seem to have. You may be able to get a job on Dinhgy Harry’s or John Murtha’s staff where they cheer the Hopes of Our Defeat, Declare The War already Lost years ago and call Our Proud Marines “Cold Blooded Murderers” before the benefit of Trials that found them INNOCENT! and that scumbag Murtha hasn’t apologized yet for his traitorous and dispicable statements. OH WELL;-P
Keep in mind that, surprisingly, he holds the belief that the role of congress is to advise the President, and that the decisions are ultimately his. As a result he was willing to vote for confirmation of those whose politics he did not agree with because he felt it was not the intent of the Constitution.
When it comes to the Constitution, he actually holds some very constructionist views. Yet, at the same time, he creates laws which, by my interpretation, are clear violations of the First Amendment.
Frankly, he’s a bit of a paradox. That said, I have come to the conclusion that our choices are a man who might appoint judges we don’t like and a man we know will appoint judges we don’t like. At least we have a chance with McCain.
Sad basis for a vote I admit, but if the fact is an Obama packed court will certainly shift radically to the left and remain there for many decades. A McCain court at least has a chance of moving in the right direction. I’m choosing slim over none in this instance.
The first post on this thread that deals with the REALITY of the situation. We have several elderly SCOTUS members, someone(s) will need to be replaced in the next 4-8 years.
