A Win by McCain Could Push a Split Court to Right
(Excerpt) Read more at washingtonpost.com ...
“How, if the next U.S. Senate is still a majority of both Democrats and RINO Republicans? The U.S. Senate truly needs a majority of actual conservative U.S. Senators, if any conservative judges are actually going to be successfully appointed to any and all future vacancies.”
Kills the third party argument as well.
Fine.. if the dim controlled senate (assumption on my part) doesn’t want to confirm a perfectly legitimate candidate, then let the seat remain vacant until they do.
Wrong. A Win by McCain Could Push the Court farther to Right.
We have only two choices before us:
Obama, who will most assuredly appoint radical leftists to the SC.
McCain, who will probably do better than Obama, at least somewhat, or maybe much better.
It’s not an ideal situation, but it is reality.
Last week, we were one Liberal Supreme Court Justice away from losing our US Constitution 2nd Amendment Right to keep and bear arms! ...one vote !!
No way in hell, do I want the Most Liberal Democrat in the Senate getting a chance to put another liberal on the Supreme Court!
How about defending our rights (real ones) and our Constitution?
So did 90+ other senators at the time. From both parties. The only ones that ever have a fuss kicked up over them are conservative ones.
Jesse Helms used to drool over Madeleine K. Notbright but it didn’t make her any smarter.
Absolutely. McCain is simply Obama with an R next to his name. Let's face it, we're doomed. Throw in the towel. Stick a fork in this republic.
Alas and alack.
Gloom, despair, agony.
The Democrat led Senate confirmed Roberts and Alito whom I think history will prove are more conservative than Rehnquist and O'Connor whom they replaced. But, to be sure, replacing a far leftist like Ginsburg or Breyer with someone along the lines of Roberts and Alito will be a tall order.
I think McCain would win the battle handily if he nominated either a woman (considering the court would be left womanless when Ginsburg retires) or a Hispanic (a first timer would be a big story). I know Bush tried that Hispanic man-can't recall his name, but the guy had a track record. McCain needs someone like Roberts or Alito - soft spoken, non-threatening demeanors and brilliant minds who can run circles around the Judicial Comm. like Roberts and Alito did.
Let the Democrats demogogue the issue if they want and badger the nominees a la Clarence Thomas. That will only turn off the public and give McCain a platform to look strong and reasonable while the Democrats look petty and partisan.
That's because "left" is the correct and proper order of the universe. "Right" is the mindset of the bitter people who cling to their guns and Bibles.
You are correct in your assertion that a McCain Presidency will most likely tip the Supreme Court back to where it should be; blind to political leanings and taking the Constitution at it's word and original intent. "Living Document?" My Aunt Fanny!
And THIS is why elections matter.
Sincerely,
Diana in Wisconsin

A pleasing thought.
NOT IN THE LORD.
However, overcoming and success usually requires some level of alertness to concrete realities.
I’m curious . . .
is it your contention that McChurian is
NOT a
—globalist
—socialist
—Marxist?
This is a good reason to vote for McCain. In addition, the DemonRats will be so infuriated and disrupted by an unexpected McCain victory, that they might no be able to advance their agenda any where as well as they think they will be.
Or not.
A win by the socialist Obama would undermine the Constitution and our country.
