(IsraelNN.com) According to the Times of London, Israeli defense sources revealed that three Iranian Shihab-3 type missiles were placed on their launch pads following a recent Israel Air Force aerial exercise in the Mediterrenean. The missiles were allegedly readied for a counterstrike should Israel attack Iran.
General Mohammad Ali Jaafari, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (which operates the missiles) threatened over the weekend that:Iran has many different ways to strike worldwide...and the important part of this is based on our missiles.
Iran has from 25-100 Shihab-3 missiles which have a range of 2100 km capable of striking most countries in the region, including Israel. According to reports, the Shihab-3 can be armed with conventional high explosive, submunition, chemical, biological, radiological dispersion and potentially nuclear warheads.
Ping!
The Iranians do realize that if they use nuclear, biological or chemical warheads (against Israel) that they’re gonna resemble a giant flat glowing pancake...right?
Maybe that’s OK with Ahmadinejad, a bunch of mullahs and the Revolutionary Guards - but I gotta think the vast majority of Iranians aren’t looking forward to it very much.
One always dreads throwing up, but it always feels so good afterwards.
I guess this means that President Bush can now officially say that Iran is no longer a terrorist threat to the rest of the world. First North Korea, now Iran. (sarcasm off)
The Iranians also almost splashed an Iraqi Airbus that day also....sent up the F-4s
The good news is that Israel can shoot them all down with the Aegis missile upgrades.
Wow! A thread about Iran attacking Israel and some nutjob comes along to badmouth President Bush.
Bush Derangement Syndrome runs deep around here!
there always has to be one.
You’re Saddened that we didn’t go to war in Korea.
So is Ted Kennedy. John Kerry and Hillary Clinton.
Has BSNBC blamed Bush for this yet???
If Israel bombs Iran, some Shihab-3 missiles will slam into Tel Aviv and the world whines that Israel struck without provocation (as if nutjobs with nukes isn’t a provocation...). If Iran hits first, Israel’s justified to hit back, and the blame will go to Iran for launching a missile and starting the conflict. So Iran is trying to provoke Israel into striking first by pointing missiles at them so the Israelis get the blame and Iran can claim they’re justified to strike back. This is gonna be a fun summer....
Also phrased, “Better a horrible ending than horrors without end.”
Bitcons.....
Still bitter about life without a true principed conservative that adheres to their own private views.
Armed with conventional warheads, they are militarily (though not politically) insignificant.
The Israeli Arrow, backstopped by Patriot PAC-III may (or may not) be able to handle a small scale (like three missiles) attack.
I hope it doesn’t to come to that, but events don’t seem to favor a peaceful ending.
