It's Time McCain Picks Up The Glove
American Thinker ^ | June 25, 2008 | Lee Cary

Posted on 06/25/2008 1:27:35 AM PDT by neverdem

Senator Obama's statement at a Jacksonville, Florida fundraiser last Friday is being heralded as a brilliant political move by many in the MSM.  It was, in fact, a shameless and unjustified insult to all Republicans, and all Americans.

The man who claims to be a different kind of politician deployed a dirty trick worthy of his upbringing in Chicago's Daley-machine.  It was a sad moment in American politics, and counterproductive to all the progress that's come in race relations since the era of Obama's hero, and a hero to us all, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King.

As the party's presumptive standard bearer, McCain owes himself, and Republicans, a stern response to the Illinois Senator. And soon.

If you missed Obama's statement, you can read American Thinker's Rick Moran's blog here, and view the video here.

McCain's general silence in the face of him, and millions of Republicans, being called racists, does not, in this instance, provoke confidence in McCain from those of us who are outraged by Obama's sleazy tactics and demagogic antics.

If anyone from the McCain Campaign reads the American Thinker, here's a suggestion as to how your candidate might respond, and soon.

McCain calls a press conference with one announced purpose: To respond to Obama's Jacksonville statement.  The explanation for its delay is that McCain wanted to give it serious though before responding. Without introduction, the event begins with a playing of the video of Obama's statements, with a transcript of his words projected on an adjacent screen since the audio quality is not great.

At the close, the video screen goes blank. Obama's words remain projected.  McCain speaks.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, thank you for coming.  My comments will be brief as I address the incident in the video you just watched. After my statement, I will not answer questions. The next words on this matter, if there are any, will come from Senator Obama.

In that portion of his comments you saw delivered to his followers at a gathering in Jacksonville, Florida, Senator Obama declared that the Republicans would run a campaign against him that would be based on fear. In comparison, he claims his campaign is based on hope.

The clear accusation he made, not just against me, but against all Republicans, is that we are racists. There is no other reasonable way to interpret his statement. He said we Republicans have already "showed our cards."

In fact, Republicans have "played' no racial "cards" against Senator Obama, nor do we intend to.  I believe he knows that. Perhaps he mistakes us for comments he faced in his primary race for the Democrat nomination. If so, that's a matter to be resolved between him and those within the Democratic Party.

But I'm familiar with his former Democrat opponents and believe he would have just as hard a time substantiating his claim of being the victim of racist cards played by them as it is impossible for him to support that smear against my campaign, and Republicans in general.

As you know, I have thick and scared skin. I am not easily offended. And I don't solicit a personal apology from Senator Obama.  But I believe he owes one to the millions of patriotic Republicans who are not, nor have ever been, racists. In the realm of hope and fear he mentioned, I hope he takes my words seriously, because words do matter. And his were unjustified and offensive.

While I've had my differences with the current Republican administration, as well you know, I would remind Senator Obama that the last eight years have witnessed African-Americans assuming very high appointed offices in this nation, far beyond any positions held by African-Americans in former administrations, both Democrat or Republican.  In my administration, that record of inclusiveness will continue, and be enhanced.

At the close of his comments Senator Obama said, and I quote, "The American people recognize that old stuff hasn't moved us forward."  The old stuff to which he refers is actually his use of a straw man representing mythical events that have not happened.  It's precisely his "old stuff" that has not moved us forward.  And it is he who, in his comments in Jacksonville, used the type of 1950's race-bating language that represents an America of the past. One from which we, thank God, have moved far beyond.

Therefore, to conclude, I call on Senator Obama to renounce his comments in Jacksonville, and apologize not to me, but to all Republicans, who he labeled as racists, and to all Americans, because we all deserve better from our presidential candidates.

Thank you, and good day

If John McCain intends to be Commander in Chief, his defense of us starts here, and it starts now.

So far McCain's speeches have been as weak as dish water, it is time for him to get a move on, take Obama head on, and get the fire in his belly. No more pussy footing around, and riding on the fact he didn't have a real Rep contender, he now has a Dem contender, and McCain had better get buys letting the country just who this guy Obama is and what he stands for.

McCain's general silence in the face of him, and millions of Republicans, being called racists, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Obama is a Black Power nationalist, look at the havoc and genocide he helped bring about in Kenya in 2007 by campaigning for Rial Odinga.....these neocolonial Chicago Politics in Kenya caused genocide, and Obama and Dick Morris are to blame. ( Morris was Odinga's Campaign manager).

Obama is simply a fascist prig, who has convinced liberal sociialists that he is their Messiah, who in their desperate lunge for power, justify their histrionics by a doomed-to-fail Utopia, and its totalitarian methods.

Obama is a goat f--k in progress, and will damage the USA irreparably if he is elected.

I beleive that he will definitely go the route of Bobby Kennedy, as predicted by Hillery, if he keeps up this racial foolishness.

The author of the speech needs to make it more realistic by scatering 5-6 “My Friends” around.

McCain is nothing more than the 2008 version of Bob Dole. He’s not in this “race” to win. He has, so far, not exhibited any backbone whatsoever.

McCain is far from perfect(as many politicians)and he need help and support to beat OBSAMA before all.
The religious conservatives should also begin to speak loud and clear, with sensible arguments, about the gay agenda, moral values, family and abortion...
OBSAMA can be attacked from different sides on many main issues(racism, terrorism,Iran,UN big government, moral values,economy...and messianic pompous arrogance)

So, no one is supposed to mention that he is black, or young, or inexperienced. But, he can predict that we will all act like racists and that's OK!

>>”A non vote for McCain is a VOTE for Obama.”<<

Not if you live in a dark blue state like NY. I will not vote for McCain (as my tagline indicates) and I will not apologize for writing in Hunter/Bolton. Being a NY resident affords me the right to vote my conscience and sleep at night if McCain should win and walks us into Socialism. His Presidency would be a disaster for Conservatives and for America in general.

The GOP has once again forced us to choose the lessor of two evils. Not this time! If we don't take a stand this election, then when will we? Wait until 2012, 2016 etc.? No, this is the time to stand up for our Conservative principles.

McCain & the g.o.p., have put me in a horrendous position.

There is no way in hell I will sit back and let B. Hussein lead this nation.....on the other hand I wouldn't trust McCain to make change for a 5 dollar bill.

So here I sit with McCain laughing at conservatives who now have to defend him, to defend themselves from Obama. It's a Hobsons choice.

McCain knows it, he walks around pretending to be above the fray, all the while, people who despise him have to defend him.

Forget the clothespin, I'm going to need a gas mask and a 5th of Canadian Club, to get through this ..and not in that order.

ignorance of the needs of the people and especially of the Christian base, some 24 million strong, had better come to an end and he should do the right thing, not the rino thing, or Obama the Muslim will be the next President.

While McCain has really pissed me off with some of his stances, Obama, and everything that comes with him, scares the living hell out of me.

I will not have any problem voting for McCain this fall.

McCain has so much work to do when it comes to bringing conservatives to his table that I am not sure he can get it done. Personally and for me, my “Rubicon” is the ANWR issue. McCain is known to be stubborn -well, so am I. Unless McCain changes his position on drilling in ANWR I will not vote for him, and I will not donate my measly $100 to his campaign that I normally contribute. So, there you have it, my “line in the dirt that McCain MUST step over if he wants my vote, and I suspect many other conservatives, is ANWR...

John McCain is the worst possible candidate the republican party could have come up with this year - at this MOST crucial time in our country’s history!!!

No one should “be entitled” to win an election. No one should have an election “given to them”, even though they don’t deserve it. I’m sorry, but if this is the best that this party can come up with - they don’t DESERVE to win! If Juan McCain is the best they have - he and the GOP are UNFIT to run this country.

And NO - Obama is not better! Given a choice between an inexperienced, racist marxist - and an experienced mentally unstable socialist - I VOTE FOR NEITHER!!! Let the chips fall where they may. The blame won’t be on the democrats - it will fall squarely in the lap of the republican party - right where it belongs.

If people in this party really want to win the election this fall - they had better take steps RIGHT NOW - to get rid of this disaster called John McCain.
