US needs 100 years to recover from Bush

From correspondents in Madrid

June 15, 2008 02:15am Article from: Agence France-Presse

IT will take the the United States a century to recover from the damage wreaked by President George W Bush, US writer Gore Vidal said in an interview published today.

"The president behaved like a virtual criminal but we didn't have the courage to sack him for fear of violating the American constitution,'' Mr Vidal told the El Mundo newspaper.

Gore Vidal has read ‘The Dialectic of Enlightenment’. Have you?

The MYTH of Barack Hussien Obama’s intelligence and ability is perpetuated by the least among the Left...

Who in their right mind would take any serious advice from this senile, perpetually wrong, uneducated lifelong homosexual?

Gore Vidal has had so much pounded into his excrement disposal portal -— his brain housing group has been wrecked by the impact.

Simply looking at Obama’s “supporters” should give a rational person some serious cause for concern....

Ya know, it was a big shock to me in my young adulthood to find out that certain icons I had studied and learned about, and greatly respected, were pretty much one-trick ponies. Good in one area, but kinda stupid in the practicalities of life. Gore Vidal is one of those.

What, exactly, is it that the United States is supposed to "recover" from, that would conform to Gore Vidal's image of America? What vision must he have of the world, that Bush is a "fascist", and therefore, the intellectual heir of Benito Mussolini?

Strictly speaking, though the parallel is frequently made, the German Working-man's Party was not a fascist party, it was a nationalist Socialist party, hence the abbreviation NAZI, for NAtional-SoZIialische, and not made up of a number of "syndicates" as was fascism. German industry had "cartels", but they had little, if any, responsibility to the state directly. If the state needed the services, it was simply nationalized.

Nobody today is talking about turning government over to any industry groups, like the Department of Energy being run by the Big Oil companies, or the Department of the Interior being run by timber companies like Georgia-Pacific or Weyerhaueser. There is talk, however, of taking over the oil companies, and administering the extraction, processing and distribution of petroleum products through government bureaucracy. THAT is national socialism.

"pathetic"

At one time Vidal thought he might have had a shot at a political career including goig all the way to the top. Obviously it never happened, and Vidal probably correctly assumed that his homosexuality might have had something to do with it. Now I'm betting the people who knew him well also knew he was a full-blown nutcase. Everything he's said or written about his own country for the last forty years has been to smear it.

In a real dictatorship like Vidol would prefer, like Cuba, he would be lined up in front of a pock marked wall. Here he has the right to spit on the gummit that helped make him obscenely wealthy.

Pray for W and Our Troops

Call me naive, ignorant, whatever, but why do these loons think we live under a dictatorship? Who is it that bans, or wants to, smoking, guns, drilling for oil, open discussion in schools and radio, homeschooling, the Pledge of Allegiance, Boy Scouts, etc. etc. What rights have been taken away under Bush? I just don’t get it.

I thought he died of AIDS?

You are correct. Back in the 1980's.

He can still give interviews at the same intellectual level, however. And vote in Chicago.

If the GOP expects to win, it needs to remind Americans, the last two years, the dems have ruined our congress.

I think you might not see a bloodbath as the DBM is ‘PROJECTING!’. I think you might see some losses (2 or 3 seats) in the Senate - and maybe a few pick ups in the house!

Such an outcome is possible. Indeed, probable...

If -- and only if -- the Congressional leadership gets off their ass and does something smart. Instead of sitting in a corner sucking their thumbs, hoping that the deluge won't wash them away.

For one, I'm not filled with confidence about their imagination nor their courage.

Gore Vidal was never "relevant".
