I would think that Russert had the best medical care available. That makes me very nervous. We get the impression that there are such ‘obvious’ ways to prevent this, but I wonder about that, especially when a lot of the statins come under scrutiny.

Usually, if a younger person has a heart attack it is more likely to be fatal.

Synco,

You’ve addressed so many issues that I did in my rather longish post.

First, you question why Tim didn’t get a stent. I asked the same thing. Recall that I saw his doctor and his doctor said that Tim had “CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE”. Plus he’s taking a stress test WITH CAD...so the medicos were checking up on something.

In fact, the stress test is how I found out I had CAD. They had to chemically speed up my heart. In my post I stated that I had to be rushed to the hospital FROM the stress test because....well I didn’t have a heart attack but that entire doctor’s office was scared shitless and the doctor was ghostly white. I was screaming from the pain. Like you, I’m not convinced a stress test can’t actually cause a heart attack. Yeah, the talking points are that Tim passed the stress test with flying colors but in view of his death, I wonder as to the veracity of this statement.

As for an echocardiogram, as I stated in my post, I had only been undergoing a medical protocol for my heart in the month of April of this year and this because my heart would suddenly go into a rapid heartbeat session that at times lasted for hours. An echocardiogram was part of that month-long protocol which included blood tests and other things until the day of the stress test which almost killed me.

Hey, I didn’t believe EVERY vein into my heart was clogged. I thought the rapid heartbeat thing was caused by a thyroid issue. What did I know?

As for the choloresterol breaking off and killing him, you are exactly right. The danger from those clogged arteries is that a piece of plaque will break off and totally clog the blood path to the heart of perhaps destroy the artery as is alleged to happen to Tim.

And again, as in my original post, what with Tim taking stress tests and his death from runaway plaque, I wonder if he KNEW about his clogged arteries but refused to undergo a coronary bypass. A coronary bypass is a very big operation and it takes quite a while for recovery, believe me, I know.

The guy was taking stress tests, he didn’t get a stent...why? A stent insertion is an in-out thing and it does not require a long recovery. If Tim had a stent we’d know about it. We knew about his foot operation.

I’m thinking he wasn’t qualified for a stent insertion. That doc told me my veins were so clogged that a stent was not an option; that it was impossible to save those arteries. The medicos were amazed that I managed to live with my totally clogged arteries.

Don’t forget that I myself left the hospital, just for the weekend, against medical advice. They couldn’t schedule my bypass surgery until the following Monday and I wasn’t going to spend a weekend in a hospital, no I was not.

But the doc didn’t let me out and you know why? Because he was deathly afraid a piece of placque would come loose from my heart arteries and ....kill me.

I’m thinking it’s possible that Tim Russert refused coronary bypass surgery, hoping it could be controlled medically. Sometimes CAD can be controlled but they usually only do it on people who are bad candidates for surgery. It’s not a normal or the best medical protocol for coronary artery disease.

IMHO, it wouldn’t hurt to track their associations in this period.

If Hillary is indeed out of the picture, IMHO, I doubt she has stopped thinking about it and sincerely blaming and ferociously causing harm to those who she might feel aided or abetted in her less than stellar performance.

Additionally, I suspect she is still planning a comeback and wouldn’t hesitate taking action against those elements she perceives as being in her way to power.

There were times when Russert approached fair and balanced....................................

His very last “ Meet The Press” last Sunday...he had a all democrat panel, I believe with him it was 6 or 7 democrats, no Republicans, infact this week he never even had a pretend Republican on.

I am sorry he died also!!! GOD BLESS TIM! but do we always have to rewrite history every time one of these guys died?

Same thing happened when Peter Jennings died....all of a sudden he was this fair journalist...I was also sad he died.

Tim Russert was on the wrong side of the most serious issues the world has ever faced.

Wolf Blitzer said Tim was a “devout Catholic” whatever that means? Obviously he was at odds with Catholic doctrine and the Bible. Abortion etc

He was a democrat, he worked for Democrats he supported Democrats and he voted Democrat.

He bore false witness against President Bush, and Dick Cheney.

Having the most popular show on political television, he gave more air time to anti war, anti truth, probably putting more US troops in greater danger. even costing lives.

Yes God Bless Tim Russert!!!!!

lets not re write history.

He could have been on the right side of so many things, he could have made a difference.

SORRY I SEE WHAT I DID WRONG!!!! I logged on with the intent of posting my thoughts on Tim Russert media coverage. I found a thread where Tim was being talked about, and was only looking for a spot to respond.

I knew exactly where you where coming from and only wanted to add my comments.

I WAS NOT TAKING ISSUE WITH ANYTHING YOU SAID!!! I CAN SEE NOW HOW IT MUST HAVE GIVEN THAT INPRESSION.

I should have gone to the very first post on the thread to contribute my thoughts..

VERY SORRY!!!!

I hope I explained my mistake.

I saw the fair and balanced and thought that was a opening to join the discussion, because thats the angle that I was after also.

I LEARNED A LESSON, I hope you can over look it :)

Anytime in the future I will go back to first post to respond, unless I am in disagreement with a poster somewhere else. I was not really in disagreement with anything you said.

And also his father who he wrote a book in tribute to fathers do not expect to outlive their sons unless the son has severe health problems and as far as was public this was not the case.

There are many people who would think nothing of bearing false witness and giving false testimony under oath in court. Russert was an honorable man and a devout Catholic. He was on the other side of the aisle and advocated for his views, but he was a happy warrior for his side. I do not believe he would breach his honor by giving false testimony in court.

Libby was befuddled and confused about minor things because he had so much serious to contend with. Or he was afraid that Cheney had been the one to talk to Novak and he was falling on his sword for Cheney.

I don’t believe that Russert lied under oath in court. He may have been one of the last of the “loyal opposition.” That is why his death has meaning. It is symbolic of the end of the era when Democrats still loved this country.

I wonder if Russert was taking a little aspirin a day to keep a heart attack away.

It does help prevent clotting and coronary thrombosis.

I wonder if Russert was taking a little aspirin a day to keep a heart attack away.

Ah, the miracle of baby asperin.

Yes, heart patients almost always are put on the baby asperin a day regimen. BUT....don't forget, that aspirin, plus other medications to control placque buildup, tend to THIN the blood.

If a piece of that plaque broke off and lodged in Tim's artery, as is alleged, that baby aspirin, plus any other medication of that sort Tim was taking, likely made him bleed out way quicker than had he not been taking the medication.

Boom, a piece of sharp plaque breaks off and cuts the coronary artery, already stretched quite thin by the buildup of the plaque within. Boom, the internal bleeding begins and by the time they got him to the hospital there was no saving him. First, the ER docs would have to have opened his chest and find out where he's bleeding, then they'd have to give him a transfusion. It was all too much in the short amount of time available.

Truthfully, as I've said before, my cardio guy would not give me permission to leave the hospital after my stress test of death forcing me to sign out against medical advice. I was firmly warned that I was a walking time bomb. I too had been on a protocol of blood thinners and the doc told me that should a piece of plaque break off I could be dead within a minute. He told me the heart was unpredictable and there I was walking around with four veins filled with crap, all ready to pop.

Hey, I took a chance and I knew it. I was scared bejeesus that weekend before my Monday coronary bypass surgery but I'd already been walking around for at least a year with a big heart-shaped bomb in my chest (I had a sort of "coronary" event a year prior which I'd tossed off as my imagination...jaw pain, nausea....).

I made it through that weekend because by golly no way was I going to sit bored and restless all weekend in a hospital and truth be told, the medicos agreed with me. My cardio guy didn't want to take responsibility is all and I don't blame him. Hey, I'm a conservative and I believe in PERSONAL responsibility, which I took when I signed those "AMA" papers. I was fine with the whole thing and if a clot had broken off and killed me so close to the operation that would clear it all, don't cry for me Argentina.

I still think, given all the new information now available, that Russert knew he had heart issues and like me on that fateful weekend, he thought he could beat the odds. Obviously I don't know this for sure but I think he didn't want to undergo such a major operation so close to an election and he hoped the medicine would keep him healthy until he could fit the operation into his schedule.

Russert was the one who burned her bad in September over the "Ticking bomb, beat a terrorist to find where it is?" scenareo on national television. He was also the one who first expressed disbelief at Hillary's Bosnia snipers fairy tale.

Makes one wonder what mark you carry after revealing the true Clintons.

May 7, 2008 During MSNBC’s election night coverage of the Indiana and North Carolina primaries, Russert declares Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) the Democratic nominee shortly after midnight. “We now know who the Democratic nominee’s going to be, and no one’s going to dispute it,” he said. His statement frames an emerging media narrative that the Democratic primary is over, leading to strong objections from the campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).
