3rd guilty plea in Spitzer call-girl ring

The man who ran the New York prostitution ring involved in the political downfall of former Gov. Eliot Spitzer pleaded guilty Thursday to prostitution.

Mark Brener's lawyer said he did not agree to cooperate in an ongoing federal investigation, The New York Times reported. Brener also pleaded guilty in federal court to money laundering.

Brener was the third person involved with the Emperor's Club V.I.P. to enter a guilty plea. Temeka Rachelle Lewis, who handled bookings, did so in May and Cecil Suwal, the manager, pleaded guilty June 3.

Spitzer resigned March 12 after news broke that he had spent thousands of dollars on high-priced call girls. He has not been charged with anything.

Lewis has agreed to testify before a federal grand jury. She reportedly arranged liaisons for customers, including Client 9, later identified as the governor.

Brener, 62, a former tax specialist, is to be sentenced in September. He faces up to 30 months in prison.

Brener agreed to serve between 24 and 30 months in prison under the terms of his plea deal with the feds, which does not require him to testify in an ongoing investigation into Spitzer's involvement with the ring.

This Spitzer thing is almost amusing....except for people hanging themselves...(or being hung perhaps). He was touted as being "Mr. perfect"...Always on the right side...

Wonder who the real snitch was in this fiasco?? I'll never belive it was an financial search that set this off.

It will be fun to watch who lil el gives up to keep his pink ash out of prison. Those who automatically think he will escape prison know little about the federal system. He’s going. It’s just a matter of for how long.

My money is on someone hired by Hank Greenberg of AIG. I saw him on Cavuto, and he came off as someone that Spitzer screwed to the wall without real justification. He was not a friend of the Governor.
