An alert reader wrote in just a little while ago to let us know about something he'd spotted on Fox News Wednesday afternoon. During a segment discussing conservative attacks against Michelle Obama, the wife of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, the network described the former as "Obama's baby mama."

Leftists are up in arms over this with the cry of racism. Expect Barak to challenge the intern who writes the headline blurbs to a duel.

Their "outrage" is faux as their logic is on the left.

Apparently, the term "Obama Mama" is an endearing phrase for Obama supporters.

For one, the Obamas are married so the caption is false in its accusation. Two, he's the first black candidate with a shot at the presidency. Third, the remark is incredibly racially insensitive.

The run for the White House has just escalated. This is precisely what McCain was trying to avoid and justifiably so. The history btw whites and blacks runs too deep in this country for Fox to pick at racial wounds like this.

Seems to me someone was just playing cutesy. Obamas Baby Mama. This seems as much an insult to liberals in general as to Michell in particular. If liberals were really saying this, verbatim, then they are just reporting. Otherwise fire whoever did it and move on. Around September, the wheels will really be coming off Obama’s Wagon. We don’t need this kind of distraction drawing sympathy for this feckless Marxist.

I saw that this afternoon - made me do a double-take.

Regardless of my (low) level of regard for Mr. and Mrs. O, I think it was inappropriate, although it was clever.

The term "Baby Mama" is in circulation because of a stupid movie in which the characters happen to be Caucasian. The term itself has origins and connotations, but I wouldn't assume the Fox News captioner has the requisite I.Q. to "pick at wounds."

If I can recall, Michelle introduced Barack as being her “Baby’s Daddy” during one of the more prominent Campaign stops I think it was for Oprah. I hate that term also, as it sounds classless and without taste.

“So when will they start/stop referring to Cindy McCain as...”

Its very big and stupid as usual with liberals/leftists they shout and whine RACISM RACISM to make sensible people SHUT THEIR MOUTH and stop any critics against them, their ideas, their candidate and their behaviour...
With the help of MSM they would like to stay beyond all critics as they are criticizing and slandering their opponents again and again...
PRICELESS and so laughable!

Showing the libs as they are is a real pleasure and should be enough for voters to make their opinion

“How are they feeling about the real racism...”

Perfectly right!
They are just trying to intimidate opponents!
Sane conservative and independant americans should let the libs rest and focus/highlight their discrepancies, fake stances and lies...
Libs can destroy themselves very well

"Obama's baby mama."

If this is supposed to be a joke it's like, really retarded. It doesn't even make any sense.

If Blacks don't want people to imitate their language then they should keep the language private.

Once language becomes public knowledge - a fad - everyone is going to mimic the latest blurb.

I think most people don’t know what it means originally. The words are what a linguistically limited hoodrat uses to introduce the girlfriend of the moment who produced a child for him and the county welfare department. As in, “she my baby momma,” meaning she’s the mother of my baby.

I think somebody at Fox picked up the term because Obama is always trying to identify with that crowd and because it rhymes with Obama. It’s NY Post style headline writing.

OK, I hate to be the one to say it, but she is his WIFE. This is just a smidge over the top, IMHO.

My first question concerns why FNC would even think to use such slang to describe Mrs. Obama. I thought “baby mama” was a reference to women who have children out of wedlock? Or are we using the term for all mothers now?

They said it because Michelle Obama referred to her husband at a recent public appearance as "My baby' daddy."

"OUTRAGED LIBERALS: STOP PICKING ON OBAMA'S BABY MAMA!"

How can the Libs be upset when Fox seems to be quoting them?

Exactly! The little sissys at Salon deliberately distorted this. (seems like some of us here cannot read too well either). Here's what sissy Salon wrote:

Fox News calls Michelle Obama "Obama's baby mama"

An on-screen graphic displayed the description during a segment about attacks on the wife of the presumptive Democratic nominee.

I wonder which 'outraged' libs they were quoting?

"My baby' daddy" = getto slang for "my baby's daddy"?

I couldn't find anything on the web with her using the phrase. But not everything makes it on to the web, at least not right away.

Here are some Yahoo search results for "My baby' daddy":

Yeah. Maybe I live in a cave and don’t know it, but I’ve never heard the phrase “baby mama” before, so I don’t see anything particularly racist about it.

Hell, this might be fun. Make up a phrase - um, “carrot thumper,” “dial rover,” “roving catwalker” and see how long it takes Obama & Co. to cry “RACIST!” over it.

Sadly, since the left IS going to cry “RACIST!” at any and all attempts to say ANYTHING negative about President Obama (they already have him elected, as usual), what’s really distressing is that our side is going to spend every day from now until election day apologizing for simply being alive, since, after all, we’re not supporting Barack Obama, and are therefore obviously racists.

Sigh. This would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

It works. Just look at how many here are already throwing up their hands and calling it a catastrophe. It was nothing but a low level employee trying to be clever. For the life of me I cannot see how this can be taken as racist.

Perhaps someone can explain it to me simply in words I can understand. How are the words “Osama’s baby mama” racist?
