Obama Bundler: Bin Laden had 'Valid Argument' for 9/11 Attacks, Hugo Chavez a 'Sweetheart'

Obama bundler Jodie Evans, who co-founded the anti-American group Code Pink, said Osama bin Laden had 'valid arguments' for the 9/11 attacks, gushed over Venezualan dictator Hugo Chavez and bragged about Code Pink's efforts to undermine the war in Iraq in a wide-ranging interview with radio host Paul A. Ibbetson.

Evans co-hosted Sen. Barack Obama's first Hollywood fundraiser in February 2007 and is listed on the Obama website as having bundled up to $100,000 for Obama's presidential campaign.

Evans also personally donated the maximum legal amount, $2300, to the Obama campaign--as has her unemployed student son.

Just weeks before she co-hosted the Hollywood fundraiser for Obama, Evans traveled to Cuba as a guest of the Castro regime where she protested against America.

In the interview, conducted on June 3, 2008, Evans said that America's presence in Saudi Arabia was a valid argument for al Qaeda to attack America on 9/11.

Jodie Evans:..."We were attacked because we were in Saudi Arabia, that was the message of Osama, was that because we had our bases in the Middle East, he attacked the United States."

Paul A. Ibbetson: "Do you think that's a valid argument?"

Evans: "Sure. Why do we have bases in the Middle East? We totally violated the rights of that country. Why do we get to have bases in the Middle East?"

Rather than let Evans' truthful admission stand, the host asked her to confirm her agreement with bin Laden and Evans smartly backtracked to saying she didn't justify 9/11 and is opposed to violence.

Evans did not backtrack on her support for Venezualan dictator Hugo Chavez, calling him "a very nice, jovial sweetheart of a guy" and stating, "I love Hugo Chavez."

Evans said she's "not a fan" of Fidel Castro because he uses violence. (That did not stop her from accepting the help of the Castro government to protest America on Cuban soil last year weeks before the Obama fundraiser she co-hosted.)

Evans also bragged that Code Pink's goal is to "undermine the war effort."

As part of that effort, Evans said Code Pink was trying stop recruiting for the Armed Forces because "you can't go to war if you don't have any soldiers." Evans denies being anti-military, saying she come from a military family.

With regard to Saddam Hussein, Evans said she would prefer that the late Iraqi tyrant was able to still rule Iraq, as does "every Iraqi I know."

Evans stated there were no terrorists in Iraq under Saddam Hussein going back twenty years before the 2003 war that swept him out of power.

Evans argued that America's liberation of Iraq was worse than Saddam's reign, stating (incorrectly) that 1.5 million Iraqis have been killed by America and 2.5 million wounded since 2003.

With regard to Obama, Evans denied supporting his candidacy, stating that "I really want to end the war, I just stay an antiwar activist and don't get involved in politics."

Upon further probing, Evans owned up to donating to several antiwar presidential candidates including Democrats Obama, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich and Republican Ron Paul. She did not own up to being a big money bundler and host for Obama. Nor did she speak about her decades of leadership in California Democratic politics.

Evans also bragged about the Code Pink protests outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She falsely claimed that the purpose of the protest was to bring funding to Walter Reed and to help the soldiers get better treatment.

Evans claimed it was Code Pink that "got The Washington Post to write" its Pulitzer Prize winning hit piece on Walter Reed.

She also claims that Code Pink's two-year protest at Walter Reed "finally got the money for the hospital that no body could get."

Evans denied Code Pink is a communist group, though she did wonder what was wrong with being a communist.

Kudos to Paul A. Ibbetson for doing a much better job of interviewing a Code Pink leader than Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly have ever done.
