Clinton Endorses Obama, Suspends Historic Bid for the White House
Fox News ^ | 06-07-2008

Hillary Clinton publicly and enthusiastically endorsed Barack Obama for president Saturday in Washington D.C., as she suspended her historic bid for the White House.

“The way to continue our fight now … is to take our energy, our passion, our strength and do all that we can to help elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States,” she said to cheering supporters. “Today as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won, and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him.”

I am with you all the way.

ANYONE but Obama.

Though I respect other FReeper’s choices to do nothing for “spite” or to hate me for voting against Obama via McCain, I will -still- do it.

Obama is the greatest political threat this country has ever faced.

This is our last chance.

So, flame on, whomever will.
I will not reply nor be swayed.

Oh well, we knew they wouldn’t keep fighting with each other forever. At some point McCain has to step up and show the voters he’s a better alternative, not just sit around hoping the Democrats self-destruct. Obama is very beatable (more than Hillary I think), but McCain really needs to work harder here.

Yes, she is “suspending” her campaign. But I would bet anything she is not “quitting.”

Even if there is no Michelle rant tape, or other damning evidence of BO’s unsuitability (as if we need more than we’ve got already, eh?), Hillary will wait it out, smiling and trying to support BO enough so she is ready to jump back in again if/when BO encounters a major crisis.

I can hear her now — “Woo hoo, here I am, remember how nice and conciliatory I was on June 7?”

"McCain will take the oath and say "America has spoken...they want me to run things and heres what Im gonna do...." and we know exactly what that will be. And it will be a republican doing it. Leaving tghe door wide open for Hillary or Obama in four years."

Love that "logic!"

It's better to let Obama into the White House now in order to keep Obama out of the White House four years from now!

I know! Doesn’t anyone remember Shirley Chisom? I think she was running in 1972 and was a woman and black. Granted she didn’t get far but it isn’t like this is a “historic first”. That nasty little thing called history you know.

"There was a better chance of defeating Hillary in the general and minimizing the damage."

I do not concure.

Just talk with a few "white, working-class", Democrats and you will come to the same conclusion that Hillary did about race in this election. She seems to be the only politician or news medial talking-head with enough insight and courage to talk about that factor.

I think it is far more likely that we will see an electoral landslide for McCain (unless enough kook conservatives vote for a looser third party kook).

She was the worst candidate ever.

We have spent 16 years loathing the Clintons but she was not "the worst cadidate ever". The inexperienced, Marxist, closet Muslim who has gotten the Dem nomination is the wort candidate for President in the History of America. If he gets elected, it will make Bill Clinton look like Ronald Reagan.

Her supporters might “play nice” for awhile since they are riding on the emotion of the day but, when things settle down, many of them will, once again, say: “To hell with the Democratic Party; I’m going to help defeat Obama so Hillary can run again in 4 years at the age of 64.”

Suspend .....not “I concede, give up, relinquish”.....

She will walk into that convention and demand a roll call vote of the states. When they get to Florida and Michigan, she will call a point of order and ask what the count is at that point. When that count reveals those two states count half, she’ll file a complaint with Credentials Committee and fight tooth and nail to get them counted full face value and then suspend action for enough time to strongarm the supers into recasting based on Credentials’ review (outcome to her favor)....She won’t give in until somebody is sworn in, period.

Her support of Obama sounded more like an afterthought buried amidst babble. She even managed to mention gays twice and all kinds of trivialities. The main theme was she and her supporters. Her creepy smile might be the result of medication or she is suffering from a manic state. Even on Tuesday when it was clear she would lose, she appeared as if celebrating.

But as Alexander Hamilton said, “Here, sir, the people rule!” People want Oprah’s Obama and will settle for nothing less!
