Global Temperature Dives in May
University of Alabama-Huntsville ^ | Anthony Watts

Posted on 06/06/2008 9:39:27 PM PDT by grandpa jones

Confirming what many of us have already noted from the anecdotal evidence coming in of a much cooler than normal May, such as late spring snows as far south as Arizona, extended skiing in Colorado, and delays in snow cover melting, (here and here), the University of Alabama, Huntsville (UAH) published their satellite derived Advanced Microwave Sounder Unit data set of the Lower Troposphere for May 2008.

It is significantly colder globally, colder even than the significant drop to -0.046°C seen in January 2008.

The global ∆T from April to May 2008 was -.195°C

Yes he will. The mantra now has changed, it’s not Global Waring anymore, now it’s Global Climate Change, so whatever happens, it’s the fault of the west in general and the U.S. specifically.

Algore doesn’t give a $hit. His propaganda machine is in full swing. Facts be damned. The sheeple believe what they’re told. Baaaa! baaaa!

Not only doesn’t Al Gore like it, but most of my brocolli, all the cauliflower, and a fair amount of the kohlrabi died from those late frosts just after Memorial Day. Right now it’s about 45 degrees with a stiff north wind. Now, none of this is actually very unusual for interior Alaska south of the Brooks Range, but Gore informed me in his film that the Arctic would experience the most intense temperature gains during the upcoming global warming, which explains that 25 degree morning two years ago on June 4 and this current string of chilly mornings.

The East Coast and SE states are in a heat wave. It’s quite normal but is enough for the kids to believe anything.

The Glo-bull warming cultists have said that global cooling is a symptom of global warming. Seriously!

It is anecdotal, but since the dumb @ss press uses a hot day in Atlanta in August to trumpet global warming I say what the heck lets do the same since the overeducated masses in this country will buy any d@m thing.

Tomorrow we will be back to coming ice age and still US at fault and Joe Bag O Doughnuts will swallow that whole as well.

>>>I am very envious of your geographic place to live. Bully for you.<<<

It’s got the good and the bad. I just spent the last few days in Fairbanks buying 3,000 pounds of food and household goods and putting it on the barge. It’ll get here in a few weeks. Then I flew in a little Navaho and bumped and rolled through thunderstorms, which always makes me think about human mortality. When the barge arrives here in town and gets us fuel for the year, gas will probably cost about $8.60 a gallon, which means getting salmon for the freezer will cost about $100 per trip. Going to Safeway seems a lot cheaper.

But the extreme rise in temperatures not only hasn’t happened, but we’ve been seeing a whole series of late frosts in the spring for the past few years - after winters that are long but without the superlow temperatures of the past. It only went down to -49.9 degrees this winter. But extreme rises in temperatures? Not here.

This is unprecedented, because it is NOT an La Nina. The La Nina is dead. These temperatures are as low as they were in 1999, but that was during a massive La Nina. This could be the coolest year globally since 1993.

My family was in Summitt from ‘51 to ‘64. Mom took The Rail to Anchorage every few months to stock up. She had her hands full with 7 little ones. Bush pilots are the best. Cheers

Must have been that $45 trillion burned. Who knew it would actually cure us of Glowbull Warming.

Okay, I’m being silly - we all know that the Fauxbamassiahussein laid hands on the good Earth and cured it all.

Snowed on Mt Rainier today.

While it sometimes, but rarely snows at the summit this time of year, I’ve never seen newsreels of a towtruck up there pulling a car out of a ditch with 6-8 inches of snow on the road.

Two weeks away from summer solstice.

This is the coldest, wettest, windiest spring/summer I have ever seen in my 30 years here.

And I can’t even get a hot date.

Dunno. I’m in Fairbanks with our three month growing season. My daughter’s in Nashville where it’s warmer, more rain, and a subsantially longer growing season. I think you have more potential for sustainment gardening where you are.

There’s an interesting post to the article on the site that you linked, by someone named Allan MacRae. He points out that there has been no net warming since 1940, and that CO2 (which has increased 800% during that time) obviously is not controlling the global temperature.

Hey, but our glorious butt-head of a leader of the GOP, the presumptive presidential nominee, John McCain is convinced that the science is settled!

Three cheers for our turd of a candidate and his total stupidity!
