This is the apocalyptic scene terrorists hope to create if they ever get their hands on a nuclear bomb.
The computer-generated image below was posted on an Islamic extremists' website yesterday.
It appeared as rumours swept the Internet that the FBI was warning that an Al Qaeda video was about to be released urging militants to use weapons of mass destruction to attack the West.
The information was said to be coming from 'groups that monitor Islamic militant websites'.
The FBI was quick to point out that it had not issued any warning and that the video was not an official Al Qaeda release through its media arm, Al Sahab, but simply an ' amateur' collection of old footage spliced together and posted on the Internet.
U.S. analysts said a lot of effort had been put into the video - entitled Nuclear Jihad, The Ultimate Terror - with graphics, music, and clips of different leaders and groups.
The same expertise seems to have gone into creating this image of a devastated Washington.
Al Sahab puts out more than 80 'officially sanctioned' videos a year to keep up the propaganda on the West. And the Internet shows how easy it is to stir up militancy. One message with the Washington picture said: 'The next strike's in the heart of America. When? When? When? And How?'
Last night FBI sources said Al Qaeda was desperate to get its hands on a weapon of mass destruction, be it nuclear, chemical, or biological.
So far that is only a dream... or, as this picture suggests, a nightmare.
Too bad it would only be a dream. There’s not a “leader” in this nation with the balls to do what’s necessary.

The FBI said the video had no links to terrorist and was nothing to be concerned about.

OPINION:
Right now jihadis and jihadi supporters are doing propaganda dumps on the net.
The nuclear video, while posted on many sites; is apparently not an “official” as-Sahab video.
Anyone can post anything and this is one of those times.
Now, that said, the jihad and global and the global jihad’s primary communication/propaganda/recruiting/training/fundraising tool is the internet.
So, to sum in it up; we’ll be seeing a lot more of this junk in the weeks and months to come on the internet.
(Some sites are informative and actually help intelligence get the bad guys; but most of the jihadi-related sites are pure junk. Period.)
Oh and to answer the unasked question, “Can unofficial jihad material be posted on the internet and should it be analyzed just as critically as the “official” stuff?”

Admittedly, my remarks are made tongue-in-cheek. In all seriousness, you are correct that America would strike back regardless of Hussein's lack of love for America.
My assessment is Hussein will make enough major mistakes to prove you right the Hard Way; sadly, he is too naive and caught up in his own make-believe p.r.

Good catch. Apparently though, the Islamic sites are using the artwork to forward their agenda. Wonder if the artists would considering suing them? Might put a damper on their terrorism plans if they were in jail on copyright infringement. ;)
