What did Chamberlain do? What is appeasement?
And what happened to John McCain's arms?
One of the little election year mini-dramas making the Internet rounds is of MSNBC's Chris Matthews' insistent questioning of talk show host Kevin James over the issue of appeasement. "What did Chamberlain do?" Matthews asks his Hardball guest repeatedly. Mr. James was unable to answer with historical specifics.
As it happens, I've met Mr. Matthews, spending an afternoon with him several years ago at his MSNBC office in the company of a friend who was interviewing him for a profile in the Financial Times. The article never ran, amazingly enough, because the FT decided an American TV talk show host wasn't of real interest to its readers, something that I admit caused me to laugh out loud.

Appeasement... was far more than handing Czechoslovakia to Germany... it was a national policy. It embraced peace-at-all-costs... disarmament... and was based on trusting the un-trustworthy. Carter, Clinton... and every Dem candidate since have followed its tenets to the tee.

    BUMP
 BIG bump
There's an added dimension to the appeasers in DC today - they not only want to appease our enemies, they want to crawl in bed with them. They want to override our Republic with Marxist Communism.

It is an excellent piece. However, there are still some things missing. One, there are different types of evil. There is the evil that is so abhorent that a sane person recoils from it. Then there is the evil of little steps, slowly inching towards the big evil. There is also ignorance. There is ignorance and stubborness of not seeing the full agenda of the appeasers.
John McCain did suffer as a POW. But while he vows to come down hard on Iran, he acquieses to the Dems on nearly every one of their platform items - closing GITMO, the global warming hoax, energy plans and policies. Eventually, he will surrender his Middle East position also.

Many stupid people are rediculing McCain about his ‘funny wave - funny arms” - ignorance knows no bounds.
He knows evil exists. He knows evil must be confronted head on. He knows evil must be defeated, not coddled, not invited into the living room.
We need a POTUS who will not lie down with the enemy. The WOT is this generations fight for survival. All else falls in behind...

When we speak of appeasement, we don’t mean merely Chamberlain’s approach to Hitler. We mean giving the enemy an undeserved benefit of the doubt while he grows stronger, and putting off the inevitable until it’s nearly unwinnable.

John Sidney McCain is not one I would trust to wage war on terror. Look at his record. Consider the consequences of his crazy desire for amnesty and open borders. He voted AGAINST barring terrorists from the US. He revealed on the Middle East trip that he had no clue re al Qaeda. Have you listened to him talk? He is a pathetic man whose mind is muddled. Mr. Loony Tunes.

You are pathetic and suffering from McCain hatred syndrome . McCain is not great candidate but he loves his country and served it. he was a prisoner of war who showed great courage and class while being tortured . You are way out line here. You are real busy here trying to get Obama elected and fool one.

All it takes is for a Chamberlain or a Carter or an Obama or, yes, a Chris Matthews -- good people one and all The only part of the article I disagreed with. The whole article boils down to good vs evil and to say these a holes are "good" in any way is plain wrong.

Actually, McCain voted for the legislation that prohibits al-Qaeda terrorists access to our courts (S.3930), whereas Obama voted against this.
