BRANDON, South Dakota (CNN) Hillary Clinton said Friday she regretted comments that evoked the June 1968 assassination of Robert Kennedy as part of her explanation for why she was staying in the presidential race late into the primary season.
"Earlier today, I was discussing the Democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Senator Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968, and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nominating primary contests that go into June. That's an historic fact, she told reporters.
The Kennedys have been much on my mind in the last days because of Senator [Ted] Kennedy, and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever, she added.

Nothing to worry about here.
These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
You can go about your business.
Hillary never blows! That’s why Bill had to go to Monica.
Everybody who has thought seriously about the Obama candidacy, including me and probably including the Senator himself, have reflected on the horrible possibility that he would be assassinated. One cannot think about Obama, the Kennedy-esque candidate without worrying about his safety.
But we all observe the discipline of not raising the issue in public. We all worry that to do so would be to encourage some maniac to take a shot.
Now Hillary has violated this unstated but heretofore universal taboo and brought up the possibility. That is not to say that she is hoping for a murder.
But it is to say that the possibility is uppermost in her mind and a significant part of her rationale for staying in the race. And, by raising it, she has made it more possible.
LOL
Hillary’s playing on the fears of the monbat democrats. They truly think that there will be perhaps many attempts on Obama’a life.
Whew. I thought I was the only one who thought that.
3) We have yet another thing that we're not allowed to talk about around Obama
Bingo. His wife can slam others about it, but it's something that nobody else can consider. And it seems that many are falling right into line helping Obama with this.
4) EVERY item they discuss on CNN is a lie. I haven't seen CNN in years, but it is absolutely astounding how much disinformation they are spewing.
Airport gates can be painful for that reason. I still find myself astonished at how they twist things...but worse still is that people are falling for it.
I pray for our republic....
I'm beginning to think the republic doesn't have a prayer.
I'd say it was 3/4 against Hillary and 1/4 looking for an excuse for her at DUh. The link will take you there, if you don't mind the profanity. The "against" group was outright hostile!
Hillary can apologize all she likes: the Death Threat has now been made, in a not-very-subtle way. The Godfather has spoken, and she has made him an offer he can’t refuse.
Crikey, you Yanks have interesting Politics! This 2008 campaign is nothing if not jolly good entertainment.

I hate it when the idiot media is the idiot media on behalf of any candidate, and that’s what they’re doing here on behalf of Hussein Obama.
Hillary CLEARLY was talking about how long candidates have continued to campaign in the primary season. She’s right — Kennedy was campaigning late into the primary season when it was cut short by his assassination.
It’s history. Read it.
I can’t stand Clinton.
But I hate the media more.
It’s just like their repeatedly wording reports this week as if John Hagee were McCain’sPastor. He is not now, nor has he ever been, John McCain’s pastor.
xzins I agree with you 100%. This was not even a gaff, it was simply a statement that by the time Bobby Kennedy had been assassinated in California after winning the California Primary, the primary season was still going. Kennedy's last public words were "And now its on to Chicago, and let's win there."
As much as I can't stand Clinton, she is really being maligned by the media on this issue. This is not evidence of Clinton's evil mind, it is evidence of the intense media campaign to do everything in their power to prop up this media created idol Barak HUSSEIN Obama and pawn him off on the American people as the Political Messiah for CHANGE.
I first heard that comment just as I turned on the radio someone on the radio said, "You're not going to believe what Hillary Clinton just said" and then they ran the clip. I listened to it and I was still waiting for her to say something horridly offensive when the clip suddenly stopped and the person on the radio said, "Can you believe that?" My reaction was "What did she say" What did I miss?" and then the radio person when into a tizzy about how awful it was to mention the Bobby Kennedy assasination in the middle of a campaign.
Frankly I simply can't believe the media firestorm. I suspect I might have said the same thing. Why is it suddenly a major political crime to mention Bobby Kennedy's assassination? What she was commenting on was simply a fact of history and she was using it to show that the campaign is not over, it is not even June for crying out loud.
The only thing I can say is that Hillary is getting a taste of her own medicine. Those who live by the soundbite will die by the soundbite. This may spell the end of her career. But this was an innocuous statement. I would have preferred her career end for some other reason, like that the American People would come to their collective senses and realize these Socialists are trying to destroy the America we grew up in.

Someone on LP noticed that back then the process wasn't so front-loaded. She mentions CA in June. Well, now, CA has already voted.
She's toast. It's just so low-class to bring up death as a pathway to ones goals.
It was a horrible gaffe that she made but it was also true pragmatism, IMO. It should have been kept to herself but it's true that with the race so close she should stay in the race in case of accidents or October/November surprises. If she were to drop out and something happened to Obama then some knuckleheads might nominate Gore or Kerry as the Presidential candidate for the Dems. Gore might be harder to beat since he's the new messiah of the global environmentalists.
I shudder to think of her or Obama as President. They both appear to lie at will, are communists/leftists but she also just walks over the law and stomps on it as she's walking over it. Scary.
I'm hoping Obama gets the Dem nomination because I think he'll be easier to beat in the national election while I think Hillary would win it by hook or by crook.
Also, with the Dems and Reps busy fighting over Clinton, maybe some people thought it would keep the government out of the citizens' lives.
I still am tired of people saying things then apologizing all the time. A lot of times being forced to apologize over nothing. If a person says something they ought to be big enough to stand behind their words. I'm talking about people in general, not just Hillary. Every other day this happens and it's tiring.
I could not disagree with you more.
Her choice of words was intentional, provocative and malignant.
Both Clintons are tone-deaf. Bill is more a true sociopath, impervious to the feelings of those around him, and deadly in his careless appetites.
OTOH, Hillary is not quite as mentally-ill as her lethal husband, just like Lady Macbeth was the more "stable" of the two Scots. But her conniving to win at all cost is foul and evil and must be denounced as exactly that.
There ARE things a decent person mindful of history and the world around him does not say out loud. There ARE lines we as Christians do not cross. And Hillary knowingly, willfully, happily, maniacally jumped right over that line, not once, but FOUR times!
Finally, after giving Hillary a pass the first three times, even brain-dead liberals are waking up to her virulent pathology.
Do we not remember the sickening gut-punch of those assassinations? Is this arrogant, deceitful woman hoping to speak to people either too young or too old to recall what it was like to watch a U.S. President get his brains blown out on camera? Are we supposed to forget the puddle of blood ringing RFK's glassy-eyed stare? Weren't both blacks and whites injured by King's murder because the ACT of political assassination really does impact all of us as one nation under God?
One guy I can't stand on talk TV is Keith Olbermann. There's a reason he was fired from every job except as a socialist talking-head. But yesterday he spoke the truth about Hillary, albeit YEARS too late, Keith. Here's the YouTube (sorry if this has already been posted.)
What kind of person has no shame or inner censor? It is a person possessed of raging ambition at the expense of all that is decent and good. It is a heart filled with self-interest while the mouth is giving lip service to our shared humanity. It is a mind consumed by personal power and greed rather than the common good.
It is the mentality of someone who intends to be our "leader" instead of our "representative."
But Hillary's remarks yesterday illustrate what most Republicans have known all along -- the Clintons are the very worst of what it means to be a man or a woman or a politician or a citizen. They lie; they cheat; they destroy. And they don't ever look back.
