Obama: Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs Spur Latino Hate

Presidential candidate Barack Obama used a Florida fundraiser to attack conservative media personalities Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh for their militant stand on immigration policy.

Appearing Thursday at the Westin Diplomat near Fort Lauderdale, Obama lashed out at critics of illegal immigrants and migrant workers.

During his speech, Obama said, "A certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There’s a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year.”

Who is behind the rise in hate crimes?

Obama left no doubt who he believes to be the culprits. “If you have people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up, it’s not surprising that would happen,” he told the crowd.

According to press reports, Obama collected more than $500,000 from some 800 donors at the event.

The attacks of blacks on Hispanic day laborers is a huge issue in places like Plainfield and Newark. Of course, if these thugs ever tried to go into North Newark and try to attack the Ecuas on their own turf, they would get stomped.

Say what you will about the illegals, but at least they 1. start their own businesses, rather than allowing the Arabs and Asians to sell bad, overpriced food and junk in the 30% of stores that aren't vacant and 2. have the excuse of being newly arrived in this country.

I also feel alot safer walking in illegal country (Bloomfield Avenue or Ferry Street in Newark) than I would walking down Springfield Avenue in da hood.

What did you get in math Barry? There's no doubling here, rather about a 10% rise, a touch larger than the total increase. I believe the 2007 report comes out in November.

Forgot to note that 7.5% (576 anti-hispanic incidents of 7,722) is about half the rate of the hispanic population, about 15% per the 2000 census, which doesn't include illegals.

There are relatively few hate crimes against hispanice.
