Jim Webb's GI Bill passed the Senate today with a bipartisan majority, 75-22. Clinton and Obama were both there, but McCain is in California today on the fundraising trail.
Obama used the opportunity to once again tie his rival to the president.
"I respect Sen. John McCain's service to our country," Obama said on the Senate floor this morning. "He is one of those heroes of which I speak. But I can't understand why he would line up behind the president in opposition to this GI Bill. I can't believe why he believes it is too generous to our veterans. I could not disagree with him and the president more on this issue."
The McCain campaign responded by issuing a sharply worded and lengthy statement in the senator's name. McCain notes his support for an alternative to the Webb measure, but points out his own military service and points out Obama's lack thereof.

The problem we have with this election is McCain is terribly deficient in many ways, his view on AGW being the worst and all too close to Bary Bozo's. However, that much being said, he's still no where near as bad as Barry Bozo. That leaves with the problem of how to keep the good McCain and get rid of the bad McCain. My only answer to that dilemma, weak as it is, is to attack McCain whenever he does something wrong and support him when he does something right, while realizing that, at the end of it all, I'll at least put my mark beside his name. Not much, but something. If you have any better ideas, please share them.
BS. Barry Bozo could have done what many of us, myself included, did, and join ROTC in undergraduate school, get his active service date deferred until he completed law school and passed the bar, and then completed his active service. Face it: like McCain or not, and I don't, Bozo's an anti-American Marxist/secret Muslim who shouldn't be let near the White House, except on a public tour and with a guard.
Thanks for posting that. The idiots in the MSM only report on the personal tit for tat and totally skip over the details of McCain’s counterproposal or the reason why he is opposed to the one Obama supports.
Hey Hussein! Shut the H*** up.
Impressive.
Talk about his a$$ getting handed to him in a basket, BO won’t forget this one and he deserved every word of it.
I dislike that view. You don’t need to have a particular experience to offer a critique of it. You just need to have your facts in order to avoid the blowback :)
Trouble is those are perfect Democrat credentials.
We already had a two-bit bastard child born to a pimp married to an marxist bitch serve as a two term president.
what you said - in spades
As much as I hate Obama, McCain's voting record is worse.
In the current congress, Obama has missed 41.8% of the votes and McCain has missed 60.0% of the votes.
Especially when he's not even there to answer. Pretty wormy. The media will be screaming racism again, I mean how dare McCain chastise the magic negro.
Ahhh! Another visit from the Left’s Toxic Avenger! How utterly entertaining!!!!
I guess I am just envious of the manner in which dims support their nominee. "See no evil, hear no evil, SPEAK no evil".
“Are we allowed to talk about his ass?”
tsmith130: No...he’s already said his wife is off limits.

So you were thinking of voting for a Republican for the first time in your life??
