DNA tests show a different situation. The Jews, per se, are not terribly different from the Arabs in the area. Even the Iranian people seem to be of the same genetic background as the Arabs ~ but they speak Indo European languages due to some obscure pre-historic ancient conquest.

At the same time there are "others" living in the midst of the Arabic sea who really are different.

The Druze, for example, have an anomalously high percentage of the "X Factor" found mostly in the Sa'ami, Chippawa and Berber people.

There are some areas with substantial Central Asian backgrounds.

Whatever was believed in 1977 about the ethno-history and genetic background of Middle Eastern populations has to be set aside now in the light of better information.

WRONG!!!!!!

Genetic testing shows Jews to be different from the Arabs.
We are closest to the Kurdish people .

Wrong again!!!!

Genetic testing shows Iranians to be genetically similar to other Indo-europeans, and less with neighboring Arabs

DNA tests show a different situation.

The author is addressing culture. There is no distinct palestinian culture or heritage, distinct from their Arab brothers. Heck, 80 years ago they were complaining about their separation from Syria, French rather than British control.

DNA aside, Iranians, aka the original Aryans, formerly Persians for a few millenia, wouldn't appreciate being referred to as Arabs.

DNA aside, I've heard I'm 93% gorilla, I think the author was addressing cultural and political traditions. And for the palestinians, those are essentially Arab traditions.

Thanks. As you know it’s not a huge interest, but I’ll probably go fishing this weekend.

You'll need to provide a URL for that one. Last report I read was in Science News and it reported that the general, run of the mill, ordinary people in Iran were essentially the same as the Arab speaking people in immediately adjacent Iraq.

It would be difficult to believe genetic separation in that area could be maintained over the 6,000 or so years civilization has been extant there. Just the common trade in brides for cows would have mixed them up.

You are correct. Jordan was created to be the Palestine state. I think the British called it Trans-jordan. Very well articulated. Especially where you state the whole world even the Israeli’s have not bought into the Myth of the Palestinians.

thanks, for the post/thread...this post, only confirms my belief (held for >25 years) this is Arab nationalism / cloaked in religion (Radical Islam)....the Arab Governments in 1948 "encouraged" the PaliArabs' to leave ALL their possessions/property, while their *smirk* "Arab Brothers, wiped-out" the Israeli....history (so far) has prove them wrong.....

what Arabs have not achieved in war, the Socialist-Marxist Jews may achieve "in peace"....the complete destruction of the Israeli State.

#2 - Thanks for the data, friend. DNA examination worldwide is showing some surprising things.

If I discuss African DNA again, I'll get banned .............. FRegards

Whatever the author was addressing he was quoting an Arab, and the Arab was approaching it from a totally different direction ~ he, in fact, (hidden from most because of its obscurity) was making a claim that Syria, Lebanon and Israel were ALL property of the "True Arabs" ~ a distinct ethnic group found mostly in the Arabian Peninsula up to the time of Mohammad.

He delegitimized any claims by Arabicized people in the Middle East to any part of the Levant except as that might be allowed by descendants of the "True Arabs" ~ the folks who currently run Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

I thought it was interesting he was willing to cough up some legitimacy for the Palestinians ~ 'cause usually the "True Arabs" think of them as little different than any of the other Arabicized people in the region.

So, yes, genetic testing is in order if only to figure out what the differences are between the "True Arabs" and anybody else around there. Depending on "culture" and "history" will not satisfy the demands of the "True Arabs" to dominate the area (even if they did so for only a short while in the early period of the Arab Empire).

Being a Hashemite is such a burden for some of these guys you'd almost feel sorry for them if you didn't know they'd bring back slavery in an instant if the rest of the world would just disappear.

Back on the Iranians, there's a book out showing differences in 6 populations in Iran. Still, the greater part of the people are essentially the same as the Iraqi Arabs in the South. They simply speak a different language.

The Hebrew word "Ploshtim" - means invader. The ancient Phillistines were a people from the islands - probably bronze age Greeks. They had nothing in common with the Jews and as fast as they settled in Eretz Israel, they later disappeared from history without a recorded trace. Nothing is known of their exact identity, culture and language. There never was and will be be a "Palestine" in history. The Roman Emperor Hadrian may have thwarted Jewish efforts to regain national independence but even he could only give the land the Romans occupied the name of a long extinct people. And so it is the present day Palestinians have no original, authentic identity of their own.

The Jews, Arabs, Kurds, Iranians and other groups in the Middle East arise out of an Eastern Mediterranean "refugia".

These "refugia" are where the Ice Age European people were driven during periods of peak glaciation. There are 3 such "refugia" in the Western Mediterranean and the people whose ancestors lived there have differences from the others.

The Ice Age was tough on the Europeans!

I admit the DNA aspects are fascinating, but imo irrelevant. In recent centuries the Turks have the best claim, but they picked the wrong side early last century. No more Romans, Crusaders weren't organized well enough, so we're left with who, and it's not Arabs

I admit i don't consider that claim any more legitimate than the DNA issue.

The Turks lost the war, new nations, a whole bunch not just Israel, were created. That's about it.

You may get banned again, but the latest deal seems to be signs of a "remigration" from Europe back to Africa some time during the Ice Age.

Haven't looked at it closely, but it definitely upsets everybody's applecart!

I think in these desert countries the guys who live on the shorelines get to name the territory with those in the hinterlands (e.g. up in the mountains) just having to go along with it.
