Principal quits job over 'gay' alliance

The principal of a South Carolina public school has announced plans to resign rather than continue his work at Irmo High following a demand to launch a student club to promote homosexuality.

"The formation of this club conflicts with my professional beliefs in that we do not have other clubs at Irmo High school based on sexual orientation, sexual preference, or sexual activity," Principal Eddie Walker, who identifies himself as "Class of 2008-2009," told the school community in a letter.

His letter said he planned to announce his pending departure to students via the intercom today, but school officials told WND that had been delayed as the school dealt with the sudden death of a student.

However, school district spokesman Buddy Price issued a statement confirming Walker's situation.

"I can confirm that the principal of Irmo High School, Mr. Eddie Walker, has communicated to his staff that he has submitted a letter of resignation effective at the end of the 2008-2009 school year. He cites personal principles related to a request to establish a Gay/Straight Alliance Club at the school as the reason for his resignation," wrote Price.

the federal law known as the Equal Access Act does not permit the school to discriminate against a club based on the club's purpose,"

Oh good, that means they can form a polygamist club. It's comforting to know the government run indoctriantion centers are looking out for us by not subverting our society.

Might as well start a BDSM club too, seeing how that and homosexuality are essentially sexual fetishes.

Good for him. Our high school, and as far as I know the only one in the county, has one of these clubs. Thanks to two teachers in particular. I have held my tongue so that my daughter would not suffer under these tyrants, but the mail campaign starts today. First the board, and then the paper.

There was a “gay club” back when I was in high school, in georgia, in the mid-90’s. I love how everyone acts like this has never happened before.

That's all it's about for gays, look at their despicable parades.

Good people have to stand up to the perversion that is taking over our country. I wish him well in the future.

Then I am certain that they will have no problem with a "Domestic Terrorism" club, perhaps a Nazi, or even a Klan club would be appropriate. I kow how about one that promotes violence against woman or even one that promotes drunk driving. /Sarc

How about an Orgie club?

Sheesh. I bet the school would never allow the students to start a smoking club, yet they allow them to have a club based on who they have sex with.

Yeah, a proposoal for a KKK club would make liberal heads explode.

Senator Byrd can be a guest speaker, if he has the time to break away from his speeches praising Ted Kennedy.

Well, I guess the FFA better find a new term for “animal husbandry” before someone thinks they are doing something really bizarre with the critters....

There was a College that tried to prevent a Conservative/ Rush Limbaugh club.

The ACLU actually took the college to court over it. They were on the side of the conservative students.

must have killed them to support such a group.

Think I'm crazy?...that's where our society is headed.

He doesn’t understand Westside v Mergens.

It doesn’t have to be another club of the same sort. If any clubs are formed at all, even on other topics such as a chess club, he must allow even the ones he doesn’t like. Otherwise, clubs that many of us do approve of such as Christian clubs, would be prohibited.

Unfortunately, even good precidents get abused and corrupted under the guise of ‘freedom’.

(MAJOR SARCASM ALERT!) We have it on good authority that the Boy Scout Council in that area has been sued to force them to add this new and distinctive badge to the Scout program there:

Photobucket

The only thing sadder than this development is that this sort of thing no longer makes many folks angry?
