Obama tells critics to leave his wife alone Mon May 19, 2008 8:50am EDT
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said on Monday that Republican critics should stop picking on his wife Michelle.
"These folks should lay off my wife," Obama said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America."
Obama was referring to a four-minute video posted on YouTube by the Tennessee Republican Party last week during a visit by Michelle Obama that portrayed a remark she made in February in an unflattering manner.
Michelle Obama's remark that "for first time in my adult lifetime I'm proud of my country" stirred a controversy at the time. Critics said it sounded unpatriotic and suggested she had not been proud of her country before her husband's candidacy.

For the first 20-30 years of this country, calling someone a “democrat” WAS an extreme insult. To our nation’s founders, a democrat was a proponent of mob rule (actually they still are!) a concept abhorrent to rational men.
Then she should stop giving speeches and campaigning on his behalf.

C’mon folks, let's knock off the McCain bashing. Yeah, I know he's a lousy candidate, and certainly no conservative. BUT, what are the alternatives??? Will you refuse to vote for a man who is, by objective standards, a Moderate (and may very well appoint 3 justices that will uphold the constitution); and by so doing ensure that a genuine America-hating Leftist wins the election???

I wouldn't get your hopes up. I don't know the origin of the rumor (or it would be more than a rumor), but remember all the rumors of this or that piece of devastating evidence that would bring the Clintons down? Or remember how all the kooks were sure they were going to have a "Fitzmas" that included a perp walk for Rove? Perhaps it will be a dream come true. Perhaps this rumored video will be deadly to Obama and be timed for release as soon as Hillary is gone. Just don't bet on it.

Michelle Obama is a combatant. She’s carrying offensive arms and I don’t see no Red Crosses on her helmet. If she wants to be a stretcher bearer than she should STFU. Otherwise open fire on her a**. (Rhetorically and politically that is.)

Hypothetical scenario:
Obama lovingly suggests to his wife that she adopt a silent role in his campaign. She responds with:
(a) Sure, Sweetheart. I completely trust your judgement. OR
(b) What the h*ll do you mean by that? Row your own boat...I'm outta here, WITH the kids!
Truthfully, I never took notice of Michelle's hairstyle, but I follow your thoughts.
As to "blacks" and "whites" copying each other's cultures, etc., that isn't news to me. Young people of the white race have often copied the styles of black youth.
As to "trying to look white", Michael Jackson has gone "beyond the pale" (unreasonable).
White women, as well as black women, desire to look attractive, to themselves and others. If a better hair style, or color, enhances their looks and makes them feel better about themselves, who can object!
It looks like Michelle Obama wallows in bitterness and white hatred, yet I could be entirely wrong.
What personal gripe can she possibly have against this country? Yes, she, a woman of the black race, received a higher education and now earns way more income than the average citizen.
If she still harbors anger over past injustices done to African people by Africans, Americans and OTHERS, she is totally free to return to the country of her ancestors.
How about that solution, Michelle?
Although Dems informally preach to maximize privileges while minimizing responsibilities, Michelle Obama is an adult and must take responsibility for what she says.
