Nine Republicans this morning. Unfortunately, most are RINOs, and of course, that perennial Milquetoast, trent Lott.

I am watching/listening to an old videotape made by my mother in August 2004. Guests included
Fran Townsend on FNS
Rudy Giuliani, followed by Tommy Franks on with Steffi
Condoleeza Rice, followed by Dennis Hastert on MTP
Those were the days!!!
Of course the questioning has not changed:
Everything that President Bush is doing is wrong
Are we going into a recession?
Are the Swift Boat vets going over the line?
Is Tom Ridge overreacting?
Why doesn’t Dennis Hastert call Congress into session (in the middle of August) to act on the 9-11 Commission recommendations RIGHT NOW!!! [Russert pounding desk]
etc
Safire and Mo Dowd on panel with Russert giving their opinion on how to combat the terror threat.
NB: Mo just said that President Bush’s nickname for her is Cobra. (I can see the reason why.)

Democratic strategist Bob Shrum. Why does anyone care what this dweeb says?
- 1976 - Worked for Jimmy Carter for 9 days.
- 1980 - Worked for Teddy the K.
- 1988 - Worked for Dick Gephardt in primaries.
- 1988 - Worked for Mike "Tank" Dukakis.
- 1992 - Worked for Bob Kerrey in primaries.
- 2000 - Worked for Al "the Bull" Gore.
- 2004 - Worked for John "F'in" Kerry.
Not exactly a stellar resumé, I would say.

From Rush on Thursday:
RUSH: I want to hit you between the eyes here. I keep hearing from people who say, "Rush, we're screwed. We are screwed, no matter what happens here. Whatever scenario you just announced, we're screwed. If McCain is the president, big-time Democrat majorities in the House and Senate, we're screwed. If Obama's the president, big-time majorities in the House and Senate, we're screwed." I don't think we're screwed.
If I thought we were screwed, I would retire. What would be the point here? A friend of mine runs a business. In this business he's got a lot of egos. He's got a lot of prima donnas, a lot of divas, a lot of people who think the world revolves around 'em and they aren't getting enough attention. He sent a memo out. "I hate negative people. Negative people make positive people sick. Don't think I'm not talking about you," he said. I don't know what the end result of that was, but I assume it shook a lot of people up. I don't like negative people, either. I used to be one. I used to look at it typical: glass half empty. When I got a massage, two minutes in I'd say, "Darn it, this is going to end," and I'd spend the rest of the 58 minutes in anticipation of it ending and being disappointed, rather than sitting there and enjoying it. If I bought a new car, I'd sit there, "Yeah, this is great, but someday this new car smell is not going to be here." I used to do this. I don't anymore, for a host of reasons.
But I can't stand being around negative people. I can't stand being around fatalists. I can't stand being around defeatists. I understand it, but at some point I lose my ability to respond to them. How many times can you say, "I'm sorry you feel that way," and what does that accomplish? I don't want to sit here, "Yeah, we're screwed. Damn it, we're really screwed! Yeah, you're right. We are so screwed. Bend over forward, backgrounds, grab the ankles. We're screwed," and then what do you do? I'll never forget Ronald Reagan. The Soviet Union had been around since the end of World War I, and they kept asking Reagan: What are you going to do about it? He said, "If we just wait 'em out, they'll fail. They will collapse of their own immorality." He gave 'em a little nudge, but they did collapse in their own immorality. I don't think conservatism's finished. People in the Republican Party who are not conservative running for reelection, deserve to lose. Just get rid of the dead weight and start over. Screw them!

Morning AB and thanks once again for all you do.
Looks like the rat stream media has once again spiked the game with those just chomping at the bit to take on GW for what he said abroad about Barry Hussein our untouchable Teflon rat candidate.
Rinos crist and the huckster both VP wannabess are prominently featured so the dbm can claim “fair and balanced” but with balance like that most any ship would sink.
One thing you won't find on any of the shows today is any mention of HR 5515 the NEVA or New Employee Verification Act which is being toyed with in Congress as we type.
Initially it looks like a great idea to electronically reject any one who is an illegal. But of course this is the Federal govt. we are talking about. Nothing is ever as it seems and this time is no exception.
In addition to checking on only “new hires” and exempting those “zillions of illegals already hired” the bill has a few other little zingers pointed out by a terrific article in Human Events by William Campennini and referenced on FR by our own EC and MNJ with some assists from Ali Veritas as well yesterday. One of the zingers is to get rid of any local law enforcement which as we all know here is basically all there is right now since the Fed/politicos are not really “too serious” about getting rid of what they consider a new emerging voting block.
The article is here and is well worth the read.

Morning AB, All....
I return more healed than last week, less healed than two weeks from today.
When I shall be able to drive again, by the way, an activity that is way under-rated as I see it.
This week, I study appeasement and wonder why our President, who finally spoke up by the way, doesn’t put out to us fools out here in la-la land why the notion of conversing intelligently with thugs, thieves and terrorists would be like the judge sitting down with Charles Manson and discussing his crimes and how to best deal with same.
Ah...that’s right. The political elites don’t speak our language do they?
My Enemy of the Week this week would be Mort Kondrake of the Beltway Boys.
This man, who I USED to respect, carried on like a tiny baby over Bush’s comments in Israel and how it just wasn’t right for Bush to be talking about Hitler and the Holocaust, no that was just a terrible thing.
Now I know that Mort Kondrake, the idiot and fool, is way smarter than my own humble self, but someone whisper in this man’s ear....
BUSH WAS SPEAKING FOR THE ANNIVERSARY OF ISRAEL!!!
Yes, THAT Israel! The country formed after the Holocaust to welcome the refugess betrayed by their own countrymen, the remnants of families eviscerated by....duh...HITLER.
Kondrake says this was inappropriate.
They think we are all idiots out here in la-la land, do they not?

Not exactly the am but here it goes.
FNC had an Election HQ focus group comment on the “false comfort of appeasement” GWBush comments.
I can not believe people were just that illiterate or just outright stupid. The focus group had to be infultrated by democrats and leftists. (aka surrender monkeys) One absolute IDIOT said the speech was calling democrats nazis.
Luntz is still skewing everything left.
Remember Luntz is the “expert” who could not grasp that Hillary clinton is in fact a socialist.
FNC is totally in the left tank based on this “coverage” stopped fox and friends a while back on sundays as they were all social left wing cheerleading and clueless on the constitution and law.
This “focus group” is supposed to represent america. This focus group is just propaganda. (bet somebody in there is a recycled RINO story troll voting for a democrat BS)
