Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann resigned this afternoon, just hours after the inspector general's office launched a raid on his office.

The embattled Democrat made the announcement in a joint appearance with Gov. Ted Strickland in the governor's cabinet room, next to his Statehouse office. The governor called it a "sad day" for Ohio but said he is "pleased" Dann quit.

Too bad. He could have done for us what Bob Taft did for the opposition in 2006.

According to Naugle, the acting AG is the former lobbyist for disgraced fundraiser Tom “Coingate” Noe.

Too weird.

Is it too hopeful to think the GOP may take a lesson from this and purge all the crooks and toe-tappers from their ranks?

Is Winters a rodent ?

I believe so as Dann picked him.

Next Ted Strickland will pick an interim AG
In November we will have an election for a new AG.

The early buzz is the people running will be Treasurer Rich Cordray (D) vs. Former Congressman Rob Portman.

At least those are the ones that each party wants to run, from what I hear.

Isn't this kinda like "Eliot Spitzer, Part Deux" where the sequel isn't quite as flashy & juicy as the original?...

Well the whores are defidently lower class in the sequel.

I watched the whole thing on Channel 4. Strickland didn't handle himself particularly well, considering he knew this was coming. He sputtered a lot, and seemed genuinely shaken at times. I think he fears what will be in the IG's report in a few months.

Note to Ted's handlers: HDTV makes your boss look rough! Better work on the cosmetics.

Saw the presser and agree, Strickland was really weak.

If he won they’d need to replace Cordray too.

Yes, but not until he's sworn in in January. Then Gov. Ted appoints a new Treasurer who keeps the seat until running as an incumbent in 2010.

It's probably their smartest bet, but it is not without its risks. People generally dislike it when politicans play musical chairs.

He shakes all the time. Either he is perpetually nervous or he has some undisclosed illness.
