McCain's 'Better Way': 'Eco-Friendly' Campaign Merchandise; Spokesman Says Not Pandering to Left

It’s not quite Birkenstocks and tie-dyed T-shirts, but presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) has shown he’s willing to go the extra mile to embrace the global warming movement.

The latest sign of that is the recently introduced “eco-friendly” campaign merchandise the McCain campaign has showcased on its Web site. Included are his and hers “Go Green” McCain embroidered polo shirts, T-shirts, hats and visors with or without the recycle logo. Organic cotton onesies for the babies. You can also find “Go Green” McCain tote bags, notebooks and travel mugs (with up to 100 percent recycled material and an “enhanced biodegradability additive”).

This is the latest move by McCain to show his willingness to include so-called “green” issues as part of his campaign’s platform. This comes on the heels of a May 12 speech in which he addressed global warming. He also used the opportunity to take a swipe at policy under the Bush administration.

“I will not shirk the mantle of leadership that the United States bears. I will not permit eight long years to pass without serious action on serious challenges. I will not accept the same dead-end of failed diplomacy that claimed Kyoto,” McCain said in the speech.

I want to call a spade a spade with "eco-friendly" merchandise, but the McCain campaign says it isn't.

The science is settled, and we have reached a consensus: John McCain is an idiot.

Anyone who disagrees is a denier.

I will not accept the same dead-end of failed diplomacy that claimed Kyoto,” McCain said in the speech.

On July 25, 1997, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, along with 93 other senators (with five senators not voting and none voting in opposition) adopted a resolution stating that ‘the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol to, or other agreement regarding, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change of 1992, at negotiations in Kyoto.’

I tried to read the article and kept gagging. Then I clicked on my iTunes, Jimmy Buffett’s “Fruitcakes”.

I was able to get through the article and keep my breakfast down.

Go Green! An empty slogan that grants instant nobility to the narcisist who wears it. I was recently at a conference where they were trumpeting that the backpack the materials were in was “green” and made from recycled materials. I found it deliciously ironic that mine joined others stuffed into a trashcan in the lobby.

3/3 Presidential contenders agree: Americans must sacrifice their freedoms and more of their money starting Jan 09 soon after the inauguration.

I'm not going to take it sitting down however.

No, don’t.

It goes in easier if you stand up and bend over.

McCain's pandering for Democrat votes is sickening.

I can't stand him....and can't vote for him.

they can call it a rose, it still stinks as pandering to the left’s socialist agenda.

McCain does not realize we are not dependent on CNN for information.

Not pandering to the left? The only OTHER conclusion is stupid. The McCain campaign MIGHT want to back off a bit on the whole global warming schtick for a while...to regroup and discover information like the global temperature drop and the recovery of the ice cap.

McCain has GOT to pander for democratic and independent votes.

He knows he canNOT take the 'traditional base' for granted,,,,and so he realizes that he's got to make up for conservatives like me that will NOT vote for him.

Every time , I try to warm to him,,,,he sticks his finger in the conservatives' eye.

His latest 'giving the finger' to conservatives is his endorsement of the far-left, big government, global plan for "CAP AND TRADE". This new effort at 'big brother' control of the private sector will create a new government bureaucracy and lots of lawyers jobs (just what we need,,,,/s).

CAP AND TRADE is the latest effort to achieve a world government (and a government knows what is best for us all) that tells us how we should live, what we should consume, and how much of it can consume. No thanks, John.

For this lifelong Republican, this is the last straw. Screw McCain, I’ll sit it out. I wouldn’t even believe him when he says he’d appoint conservative judges.
