"CNN published a report on Laura Bush on April 8, 2001. Briefly mentioned was the fact that Laura’s father was a leader in the Republican National Commitee and the Central Intelligence Agency after the war."

I had no idea about any of this.

Honor, modesty, and class... also
so rich in Laura’s side. Read the
last line of the linked article.

God bless and protect this good
and decent family. We have been
so blessed by them and the examples
of the honorable ways they conduct
their lives.

The Russians later entered the area, and the Americans retreated farther west.

Good grief, retreated? It is no wonder Americans can not support a war we are winning. These days we don't know the difference between withdrawing to preset occupation areas and retreating.

You have to cut the author some slack. The article appeared in a German paper, and this is a translation.

The original German for that sentence was:

Später rückten die Russen in das Gebiet ein, die Amerikaner zogen weiter nach Westen.

Maybe someone can provide an alternate translation.

We don't know if the translator was American or not, and if she had some knowledge of German military terminology.

Fair enough, I agree then it is likely a translation that was just not clear on that word. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I had no idea about any of this.

Of course not. It's an unwritten rule of the media and hollywood (small h on purpose) - No good deeds nor brave actions by any republican or their family must ever see print.

Only about dems - even though they must be made up.

This is fascinating - I wonder if he knew personally the American soldier Private Galione, who actually went AWOL and FOUND and reported Camp Dora and its inhabitants and V2 rockets to the 103rd.

According to an interview I watched earlier today with the daughter of Private Galione, Mary Nahas, author of “The Journey of Private Galione, interviewed on “It’s Supernatural” (www.SidRoth.org), Camp Dora was actually in the zone of Russian occupation at that time, and the US Army took those rockets (forunners of ICBMs) right out from under the nose of the Russians. Stalin was allegedly reported to be “livid” at this.

"Laura's father was a leader in the Republican National Commitee and the Central Intelligence Agency after the war."

Could the writer, Nico Wingert, be mistaken?

From "Laura Bush: An Intimate Portrait of the First Lady By: Kessler, Ronald,"

"After the war, Harold (Laura's father) took a job as a district manager with Universal CIT Credit Corporation in El Paso. When an oil boom created a need for homes for workers, Harold and Jenna moved to Midland, where he became a homebuilder.

I couldn't find anything about Harold Welch and the Republican National Commitee with google. But I only looked at one page.

"Briefly mentioned was the fact that Laura’s father was a leader in the Republican National Commitee and the Central Intelligence Agency after the war.

No wonder Bush seems asleep. His dad, Granddad all Washingtonians, Laura's. Now McCain, third Generation. Between the finacialist, the incestious Washingtonians, the Country Club elitists. Business as usual. What's the problem, our checks come in on time? And, besides, the Democrats are worse, and we are only screwing up the entire country at half the rate.

I watched that program on Monday, also, but only saw the last half of it. I wrote down his name to look him up on the web so I could get the whole story. I had never heard any of this before.
