Are they trying to top the stupidity of a university board for firing a guy who used the word "niggardly"? I forget the details, but the outcome was that the ignorance of the administration in failing to understand the meaning of a perfectly good word did not excuse how it made them feeeeeeeeel.

The Klan owned Indiana politics in the early 1920s. It took a bunch of brave Irishmen at Notre Dame to break the Klan's grip. I wonder what it will take to break the grip of Political Correctness?
This is a great book, and it made me even prouder that my son is a student at Notre Dame.

I’m sure every liberal library has many truly racist tomes for every palate. This was just stupid but it does illustrate the intolerance and the mindset in these institutions. It doesn’t matter if the charges are credible it is the seriousness of the charge that matters to them and the feelings of those involved. I’m glad this worked out well for the guy. Just thinking about it raises my blood pressure.

Guilty in a real court or a trumped up college court. I’d sue their Irish arses off. Calling the ACLU!!!

In no sense could these quacks at ND consider themselves liberal, liberals having degenerated into cult minders. Put the two accusers up on a dais to explain their world view would be akin to putting a crazy street preacher up there, same difference.

You can't commit racial harassment by reading an anti-Klan history. You can if you're white.

The Campus Left wanted to keep him from reading even a politically correct book because it thought it was a book that incited racism. Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.

After months of stonewalling, the university withdrew the charge, thanks to pressure from the press, the American Civil Liberties Union and a group called the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, or FIRE.Thwe underlined is a surprise. Probably like the broken clock that is right once in a while.

It is not very surprising that would happen in Indiana. Indiana is by far the most ignorant non-southern state. Consider:
* The Indiana legislature refused to enact Daylight Savings time because they said the extra hour of sunlight each day would confuse the cows.
* The Indiana legislature enacted a law making "pi" stop at 3.1 on the grounds that calculating any further decimal places of pi would would be an undue hardship on students and would also undermine parental authority when children asking for help with their homework would discover that their parents were incapable of calculating pi. The eventualy decreed that pi should just be "3."
* 78 fercent of Indianans think that Columbus was trying to find a Westernpassage to Indiana.
* 84% of Indianans think that the sun revolves around the earth and that the Big Bang Theory is just a bunch of smart-aleck fancy city folk trying to be smarter than God.
* And worst of all, 7% of Indianans still think Bobby Knight is a good man.
