Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama flatly promised to raise taxes in a television interview Thursday afternoon.
I will raise CEO taxes, Obama told CNNs Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room.
If youre a CEO in this country youll probably pay more taxes, Obama said. Obama speculated his CEO tax rates wont be prohibitively high, youll pay roughly what you did in the 90s when they were doing fine.
Obama also said he would eliminate the Bush tax cuts and install what he called a middle class tax cut.
Blitzer asked Obama to define middle class.
Obama replied, You know, I think the definitions are always a little bit rough and said if youre making $100,000 a year or less, then youre pretty solidly middle class On the other hand, if youre making more than $100,000 and certainly if youre making more than $200,000 or $250,000, youre doing pretty well.
The CNN interview was the first one Obama has held since Tuesdays primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. In it, the Illinois senator also discussed his judicial philosophy. Obama, who has delivered constitutional lectures at University of Chicago Law School, said he thought Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a very sensible judge. He also hinted he would place special emphasis on civil rights protections when appointing Supreme Court judges if elected President.
Weve got to make sure civil liberties are protected, Obama said. Because oftentimes there are pressures placed on politicians to want to set civil liberties aside, especially at a time when weve had terrorist attacks. Making sure we maintain our separation of powers so that we dont have a president who is takes over more and more power, I think those are all criteria by which Id judge whether or not this is a good appointee.
He is a Fool
The Magic Mulatto is fatal to the United States.
“Mondale tried that tactic. We know how well that Ill be honest - I am going to tell you now that I will raise your taxes idea worked.”
But Mondale was running against a much better man than Hussein is.
Oh? You didn’t answer the rest of the question, I see.
If Obama becomes President can Reparations be far behind?
I am very serious. I think Laura Ingraham played the sound bite. I listen to a lot of talk shows when I can that after a while, it blends in. It had better come out in the campaign.
I sure hope not. He says he won't but I don't trust him. I guess I'm shell shocked and I have a hard time believing any of them these days!
That being said, we have a 50 - 50 chance of McCain appointing conservative to moderate SC Judges. With Hillary and Obama, they will be clones of Ginsberg, or worse. I will crawl across broken glass to vote against Hillary and Obama, and if that means I have to hold my nose and vote for McCain, then so be it.
To be perfectly honest, I'm more afraid of Obama's wife than I am of Hillary! That woman is a skank from Hell.
To seek that goal I will not develop new nuclear weapons.
and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.
JEEBUS!
It was 96-3 with one not voting, Smith, Nickles and Helms. Which of those three do you support?
“..layin on da beach at Kikambala.”
If you must, go to Niali Beach near Mombasa.
If Obama is elected you will get 9 Ruth Bader Ginzburgs. If McCain is elected you will get Roberts. Sorry if you'd rather play mental games than deal with reality.
Holy Caesar’s Ghost, you were right!
Say “Goodbye” to the American economy.
He’ll absolutely kill it.
If Obama becomes President can Reparations be far behind?
I wouldn’t be surprised. Nothing surprises me anymore. We are going to hell faster and faster and faster and.....
Obama’s positions are right out of Rev Wright’s sermons. Our nuclear weapons are evil, we need to talk to Iran, etc. It’s obvious.
Funny, that's kind of what the U S Constitution says. Too bad so few people believe in it anymore.
If he's going to raise taxes on those earning more than $100k, I wonder if that will include athletes and Hollywood stars. Would they continue to support him?
This guy is a friggin Communist!
Plus he is going to sick ACLU nutcases against white Americans if they look at a minority or queer crosseyed!
So, I have to view McCain through the prism of what he actually has done in regards to judges, and this judge, Ruth Ginsburg, late of the ACLU, is one that received his YES vote in the Senate to confirm.
