The official discussion thread for North Carolina's big day - the first time in twenty years NC has mattered in a Presidential primary. Also, several other hotly contested primary races, determining who will face off in November to replace term limited Governor Mike Easley; and some very interesting Congressional races, among them the three-way 11th district race that includes Free Republic's own John Armor.
Races are held under run-off rules; if the top vote-getter doesn't reach 40%, the top two vote-getters will face off in June.
North Carolinians, let us know what you see/hear at the polls today.

My reference was to the reputation of Democrats with respect to the Alice B. Toklas style of brownie . . .
Smith seems to be a solid choice, good essay here:

However, he didn’t respond to questionare here:
I really hope Joe Johnson doesn’t win:

Answer to Question 11 is disqualification for this position.
yep you’re right, looks like gop has had issues with Morgan in the past:

So did I! My other protest vote was for Alan Keyes. I was really pleased to find a sample ballot link for my precinct when I checked on my voter information at the NC State Board of Elections web site. It was really helpful in researching the candidates.
Keyes got all the votes from the Rs in this family.
HRC got all the votes from the Is and Ds.
I guess, if I have to, shrug, oh well, we'll all trudge off to the voting place in Nov and vote for little Mac.

Lol, on the opposite coast myself, but if I could vote there I’d go straight “R”, except to vote for Hillary. If she wins there, THAT’s an upset.
Thanks. Don’t think I’ll stay out that late. It turns out my husband didn’t vote this morning, so he’ll drive Tom and me over to the poll and we’ll walk home when we’re tired of it. I don’t mind being out as long as there are voters and somebody to talk to!
:) That’s what I thought, but the recipe I posted is the one I would make.
Hey, look, guys, Alan Keyes is still on the ballot!
He still has a chance!
Never mind, that even the loser Constitution Party rejected him, he’s still in the GOP race!
Rise up, Alan, and take back the party!
(sarcasm)
The only real question tonight is....will Mike Gravel get more votes than Allen Keys ?
After talking with several young Ron Paul Supporters today, I think that we should try to bring these youths into the party, and educate them on conservatism, ala WFB, Russell Kirk, Richard Weaver, and the events surrounding the Whittaker Chambers case.
How hard is it to get a YAF or Young Republicans started up?
Wouldn’t it be more effective to soak them in bourbon AFTER baking?
The numbers in Mecklenburg County are interesting!
I know Howard....fine man. But I think he is wrong on Iraq. He has been solid for year. The RATS during the Clinton impeachment time attacked him unbelievable about his aging parents. Both were very ill at the time and passed away.
Looks like she's on it already:Remove from oven and sprinkle bourbon uniformly over the brownies. Cool thoroughly.
