Simply appalling. How much training do these 911 operators get?? Why would she ever think that the man who called 911 was the bad guy??
To: lowbridge
Moral of the story: pump off a round into the ceiling, then tell the 911 operator to forget the police, just send the meat wagon from the morgue. The cops will get there in a hurry.

That 911 operator needs to be fired.

Many years ago we had a problem with our dispatchers, for some reason they decided to start making judgment calls too. We had to assign an officer to dispatch to put an end to it. What eventually happened is 3 of them decided they didn't need someone telling them how to do their jobs so they filed a “group complaint”. Long story short, the people that replaced them worked out nicely.

Good Grief, this business owner needs to relocate to Texas.
To: lowbridge
OMG. I hope the 911 operator receives some much needed training. I don’t think she listened to him at all, let alone knew what was going on. What is the big deal with telling a caller who might be in jeopardy “Don’t be brief with me”?? I’m glad with all her delays and nonsense that the business owner wasn’t hurt.

I'm not a nice person, but I would have THUMPed! about the time between the second and third command to get on the ground.
But I'm not a nice person.
Citizen action is NOT appreciated by local constabulary.

pump off a round into the ceiling Never. Always know your target, always know background. What goes up will come down. Generally, with the same V.
Besides, who wants to fix an overhead?

Always remember, the police are not under any obligation, constitutionally or otherwise, to protect you.
SCOTUS has ruled so, and the police association lawyers have fought hard to keep it that way.

After about 30 seconds of the 911 nonsense, here’s my reply:
“You send the cops to this address and then hang up the phone and go review your training manual.” CLICK!!

There is a saying, "To err is human, but it takes a computer to really foul things up."
Stories like this lead me to conclude that's being unfair to the computer.

Yeah, where the tape of you shooting the advancing crooks can be used against you in a court of law.
Our shamed DA Chuck Rosenthal (Rino) was against private use of guns for self-defense. That’s the boys in blue’s job.
He’s gone now. Somehow I don’t think the attitudes will change in the fall election.

It’s a good thing the County showed up, their dispatcher got it right, If Coulmbus had shown up, their dispatcher would have had them shooting at the property owner.

To be fair.... If you buy a cell phone somewhere, it may not roll to your location. MOST 911 operators, including one of my ex-wives... will ask, "What is your location?"
You have to be smart enough to tell them what community you are in.
Last time I needed a 911 operator, the guy at the Naval Air Station transferred me immediately to the correct folks. Of course, first words out of my mouth after I heard him answer were "I need **** *****). 10 seconds later, my wish was granted.
