I just want to say that you guys are awesome! We had a GREAT month in April - and I'm here to give you the full results....
Our Smackdown Bomber flew from April 12 thru 30 -- that's a total of 18 days for those of you in Rio Linda. (Thanks for the great Bomber pic, alfa6!) The "Smackdowns" are removal of specific videos and the "Suspensions" are the removal of users -- a suspension can result in many, many terrorist videos being taken down as most users have more than one video posted. So without further ado...
April 12 - 30, 2008 Results:
7 Suspensions
With those 7 suspensions, 179 videos were removed from YouTube:
Plus an additional 43 Smackdowns:
Bomber Girl is very pleased!
If you're new at this, we'd love to have you working with us. Here are the steps for flagging videos:
(H/T to rawcatslyentist):
#1) If you dont have a YouTube account, go sign up for one. You dont have to use it for anything but this.
#2) Click one of the links below, let the video start and then click the pause button on the player so you dont have to actually watch the propaganda.
#3) Below the video, click Flag as inappropriate.
#4) Choose promotes hatred or violence
#5) Where it says please indicate the group attacked choose National Origin.
#6) Where it says provide additional information..... type or copy/paste in the below statement.
Providing services to terrorists violates executive orders 12947 and 13224.
So you got game? If you do, freepmail StarCMC to get on the pinglist -
typically one ping per day - and start flagging! And THANK YOU!
WooHoo! Number four is gone!
#29 now removed for violation
#358 & #359 Done! The fourth video in #358 has been removed!...:-)
Gidday mates,
Great fun PING. Dunno if you are part of StarCMC’s ping list already or if you’ve seen this thread. If so, please ignore this interruption to your day and carry on as you were.
If not, then I commend this particular thread to your attention: it is HELL FUN, and a great way to deal decisively to terrorists in due FReeper fashion, doing what FReepers do best while making a positive contribution to the WOT.
At most it will take 5-10 minutes of your day, and it is much more fun than gassing about Hillary’s most recent gaffe or Obama’s hemorrhoids (we should certainly do that, too...)
The idea is to deprive terrorists of some of the free Internet resources that they use against us. It is propaganda warfare at its finest: it is a war that the terrorists are currently winning thanks to the MSM. We aim to fix that.
Initially this means getting terrorists banned from YouTube and getting their videos yanked: it is a free Internet resource and they use it alot. They take their cheap videos of IEDs blowing up our troops and post them up on YouTube to show off. There are dozens of them! And some of them are even fakes.
Until now, nobody — not even YouTube — has stopped them. Then StarCMC had this great idea...
The desired outcome will annoy them mightily because their latest show-off propaganda video gets yanked. Some of their posters have large followings and are prolific: ideally we want to get them BANNED.
We keep score, as you can see: recording our “kills” as we go.
Speaking personally, I am having so much fun with this I felt it would be greedy not to share this activity with you, if you felt so inclined...
...after the first few it becomes an addictive pastime. I tend to check the list and do my bombing run just before going out on Patrol. Then I check back next day and see how many of our video targets have been yanked next morning. It’s a ritual by now.
Anyrate, if you think you might find this an amusing pastime (as I do) enlist with StarCMC — it’s her idea so get onto her ping list, and ping your mates who might also find this amusing. And check back here daily for our new assignments!
That is all.
*DieHard the Hunter*
Smackdown of the Day! That’s Hilarious!!!
Folks, get into this stuff — it’s great fun! And it is important work that we can all do.

> I’m jumping in for the Moms of those soldiers!
Goodonya, Mum!
Whoa! Way too cool! I have commented on YouTube already, and would be grateful for requisite instructions...
All but the first and last have been removed.
I think I LIKE coming in late. Does my little American heart good!
My pleasure!
Now I’m trying to get Marvel Movies to send copies of “Ironman” over to the troops in Afganistan!
They would get such a kick out of it!!!!
Smacked!
Whoo hoo!! Numbers 7 & 11 on the stubborn list are gone boom boom! Bout danged time.
[tips hat]
Thank you, ma’am!
Nothing like a smooth kill to make one’s day, eh mate?
Back from the target area with bomb damage assessment, ma'am.
Targets 2, 3 and 4 for today were dropped on by the entire wing and obliterated. Nothing but smoking craters, ma'am! We all had a good chuckle.
If anybody needs me I'll be at the pub in Huntingdon.
I have a brilliant Idea for a video.
I’m going to take the sound and the opening credits from one of these terrorist videos and I am going to mix it with shots of ordinary automobile accidents removing the often repeated IED explosions.
Any of you wannabe video producer care to join me in my quest to ridicule these morons?
> I went back to look at the video. That message may have been there before, but I didn’t notice it (can’t see as well as I used to...lol). I just thought it was gone because it took me to the main page. It says you have to be on the person’s friend list, which probably includes plenty terrorist supporters.
Hmmmm... this is an interesting development. Let’s think this thru strategically. Is it a good thing, or a bad thing?
Instinctively, I think it is a HILLARIOUS development: what we’ve achieved, effectively, is that we are now forcing this particular terrorist to keep and maintain a list of “friends” that get to see his filthy video.
One implication of this is, presumably, if you aren’t on that list you don’t get to see it. So, instead of having an audience of roughly 2 billion (the entire Internet) he has a very limited audience of only his friends and supporters.
From a marketing and advertizing perspective, how useful is that? It kind of defeats the whole purpose of Propaganda, doesn’t it — to only be able to play it to yourself and your own friends? It’s like taking out a full-page ad in a newspaper than only you read yourself, nobody else.
If this analysis is right, then this is a brilliant outcome: we are making them invest time, effort and resources maintaining a list to protect his video — AND the video isn’t achieving anything by way of propaganda (so it is effectively useless).
Excellent.
Now, to really p*ss this guy off, we need only search YouTube for any other videos that he’s posted: if they are objectionable but not private, we can flag all those. Maybe put in the comments that this is a recidivist poster of objectionable material and demand that he be banned OR we will complain to the State Department...
In the face of that kind of ultimatum, YouTube would be silly not to ban him. And if they don’t, they can explain “why not?” to the State Department.
Which means that not only have we made him maintain this time-consuming list of friends, but we’ve got him banned anyway — which will have wasted a whole heap of his time.
What say you to that?
*DieHard*
> Erasing all the words of the enemy seems rather retarded from an intel standpoint.
If there were anything of an “intelligence” nature that could be of any use to the US Armed Forces in these videos, they probably already have it by now.
The plain fact is, this isn’t “intel”, it is enemy propaganda. Nobody learned anything of any value ever by paying any heed to enemy propaganda. It is only of any use to the enemy. It is therefore very sensible to remove this valuable resource from the enemy: it is most certainly not doing America any good by being publicly available on YouTube.
> Sooo.. you want to censor videos you don’t like?
During a time of war, Censorship is a perfectly valid and sensible thing to do. The right to Freedom of Speech is not absolute and never has been: certainly not during wartime.
> Well, Sieg Heil to you too!
Aside from being an unnecessarily unpleasant way to express yourself, I think your point is a valid concern with regards the Freedom of Speech. It deserves addressing:
Does an enemy at war with the United States have any reasonable right or expectation of Freedom of Speech, from a Bill of Rights perspective?
Jeez, I hope not. Commonsense would say “no”, but I am a foreigner so I don’t really know the United-States-constitutionally-correct answer to that question.
If the answer is actually “yes”, then your point is correct and the Smackdown is thus not a very nice thing to be doing to the Enemy, from a Bill-of-Rights viewpoint.
In which case, perfect! You’re not supposed to do nice things to your enemy when you are at war with him. You are supposed to be unkind to him to the maximum possible extent permitted by the Laws of War. Depriving the Enemy of a constitutionally-protected Right to Free Speech is therefore an excellent thing to do during a time of war.
(I would have also thought that stacking their illegal combatants in a naked pyramid, or putting underpants on their heads would also have been OK, but apparently not. Go figure...)
I am certain that, if Osama bin Laden were to want to present himself to the Justices of the Supreme Court to take out a constitutional challenge because his Freedoms of Speech were being violated, nobody would mind at all.
If, on the other hand, the answer is “no, the enemy does not have a constitutionally-protected right to Free Speech”, then perfect again: the Smackdown is therefore a perfectly fair and sensible thing to do to the Enemy.
No point giving the Enemy rights that he does not have. You can be certain that the Enemy would not reciprocate the favor, were your circumstances reversed.
So either way, the Enemy’s videos ought to be Smacked down. Your Bill of Rights says so.
You guys deserve a big WOOOOHOOOO!!!
Wow -- yesterday was a GREAT day!! Some
stubborn ones down and others too -- a total of

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION:
The DNC apparently thinks that it's a great idea to politicize the deaths
of our brave ones and have decided to use video very similar to that which
we are battling on YouTube every day in an anti-McCain ad.
Regardless of your view of John McCain, using the deaths of our soldiers
in a political ad is morally reprehensible. If you have the time, please
see this thread and then voice your displeasure with the DNC.

So you got game? If you do, heres your first list a couple of the videos have already been Smacked Down! WOOHOOO!! Lets get the rest!
This list will remain up until these videos are down. For whatever reason these particular videos have staying power. No matter how often they are flagged, they just stay up. So I figured we could flag them several times each -- not every day by each person, but each of us maybe once a week -- and maybe YouTube will get the point.... I will add a new "stubborn" video to replace each one we get removed!! We'll keep 6 on the list.
